LOL....yeah...that was Javier in one of the pics. He wasn't hard on the eyes. Oh wait...did I include the pic of the delicious LAN flight attendants. Let me check...

Wonderful, what a day! I truly enjoyed it. The only time I was in that area was after the Pinochet coup, and it was during a curfew, nobody was allowed on the streets after dark, we wanted a ride to the airport at 5 am and the poor taxi driver broke don't know how many rules but he took us. We were staying in La Calera, a pretty city inland about 40 miles from there. (And Chile won the soccer match against Argentina, I am sure you'll tell us more tomorrow about that)
A note regarding Neruda, don't know if you remember the movie Il Postino, a few years back, is all about Neruda in Italy, great movie if you or anybody else had not seen it.
Looking forward to read about Easter Island, thanks Chech

Thank you again. I found the movie Rapa Nui for rent on Amazon, good to know, I don't remember it. Impressive photos of the surf! (I wish you put the Falklands in your list as well)

Hmmmm....I can do the Falklands with Goway for about 5k and get like 15k aeroplan miles in the process!

Chech: Absolutely beautiful photo of the sun coming through the clouds with the ship in the bay. Had no knowledge of the history of Easter Island and what country it is now a part of. Thanks for the history lesson. Purvis

That brings back so many memories of my time on Easter Island. My guide was Sabrina also.
You are so lucky to have had the Dreamliner. Mine was an old 767.

Yeah, it's new on the route and carries more people. Both flights were completely full. She also noted that is they are overbooked, the tourists get the seats. Day Twelve is up.

Chech: The last photo in day 12 of the Moai outlined by the setting sun and clouds was just magnificent . Purvis

That was the wide angle lens that I had to use because the other one didn't work. That one let me get all the statues in one shot. The statues are spread over an area of about a football field in length. There were a lot of ooooohs and aaaaahs going on as the sky turned red.

I have just finished reading and thoroughly enjoyed the total journey. South America is on my bucket list but it's such a long way away and expensive, don't know if I will ever get there. I'll just have to keep saving the non-existent pennies. Thank you for sharing your travels. I know that I really enjoy reading about them. Pauline

Chech: Thanks for taking me along by way of tour tales and photos on your latest tour . Like many I will never get to personally see these countries and cities but through your tour tales I feel in a small way that I have been a tourist in these sites. Thanks for taking the time and energy in providing me these experiences. Looking forward to reading about your next adventure this Sept. Purvis

I wonder if Chech has Ecuador and the Galapagos on her list? Don't remember her going there. Hopefully she'll go and tell us about it. My daughter went a few years ago, but I have never seen pictures or heard much about it from her..

Another great tale Chech and some fantastic photos. I've especially kept Peru aside for my 40th in 2018 and was hoping to include Easter Island as well if I can afford it.

Great tour tale Chech. It really sounds like a great tour. It makes me want to move South America up on my list! It’s too bad it’s so expensive to go there and I need a few years to save for that trip.

Yeah...that's why I went with Monograms. It was significantly cheaper than TT and half the cost of Insight's new tours. It's too bad they have a limited number of itineraries.

My friend wants to go on a cruise of South America. I’m not sure if that’s how I want to see South America yet, but if I do, I’m sure it will be expensive. I would have to see the itinerary first and make sure the cruise ports at the cities I want and for more than one day.

I don't think a cruise can do the continent justice. It can't get to a lot of the best sites there. If I were to pick the three places to visit it would be Machu Picchu, Iguazu Falls and Santiago (with side trip to Easter Island and a visit to the Andes). If you were to get to South America only once, they'd be the must-see highlights.

If you were to get to South America only once, they'd be the must-see highlights. We wouldn’t got to Peru on a cruise. That’s one place I want to do separately and on a tour. We were looking at two cruises, one that just goes to Brazil and Uruguay, and spends three days in Rio, and the other one goes to Argentina and Chile. That being said, I think I’m leaning more towards a land tour. South America is still a few years off for me, so I still have time to decide.
