My reaction as well. And that was just the bottom end. It got better. And I get to see it from the other side tomorrow!

The good news is that I'm really caught up on my tale even after four days. It'll come out pretty quick once I'm back. Here's Day 2 of Iguazu Falls....this is the very top of the falls on the Argentinian side. I could shoot myself for not having the same filter for my wide angle lens.

Thanks. I'm astounding myself and so thankful my guide was so patient. Guess he's used to it.

Just as a comparison, here's the same shot of the falls taken with a normal exposure.

I love my new camera. Tulips is the one who first suggested the mirrorless and it's a fabulous camera. This is from today. That is the San Jose volcano in the Andes. We had to snowshoe two kilometres uphill at almost 8000 feet above sea level to see it. I'm wasted!

Look for the Southern Cross, Chech, i imagine how many stars can be seen from there!

Unfortunately, no stars to be seen. Too many clouds. But not enough to keep the sun away in the day. The sunlight really made the statues stand out. I'll have to wait for the Arctic cruise to see a decent night sky.

Back and had to mow my front and back jungle yesterday. Now I can sit and post the tale. I might have the first day up as soon as tomorrow morning.

I'm looking forward to reading your tale check! I'm going to bookmark the link onto my tablet now so I can read it anywhere, and for the first time in months, I don't have company, so I have the time to read it!

Wonderful pictures! Loved to reminisce a little; it has been at least 30 years, and for the life of me, I can't remember how we got to the Corcovado, don't remember the train, I wonder if there was a tram before or just the elevator, we were just four in our group, and what I remember the most was this small 8-10 years kid giving directions how to park a car in a very tight space like he knew what he was doing! And he "watched" the car for a few coins. Our hotel was in Copacabana as well, by the beach; I fell flat on my back coming out of the elevator to a lobby full of people...(not the last time I make a spectacle of myself falling in front of people) Thank you! (have you seen the movie "Black Orpheus"?)

It was probably the train. I think he said it was like a hundred years old. The elevator at the top is very new. We got there early enough to get a spot right next to the train, but parking certainly is limited around there.

Chech: For those of us who will never have the chance or finances to travel to the exotic places that you have traveled over the last 4-5years I thank you for your photos and travel tales . We get to see these places from a personal traveler's view and that is very important at least to me. We do not see these areas from a planned and controlled tour but from one who explores the out of the way areas which adds more insight to your tales. Thanks Purvis

Yeah...I wish I had come across Monograms when it did the U.S. It would have been fabulous to do a bunch of US cities like this. Granted, I now know my travel agent can arrange the same type of vacation that I can plan from start to finish...and do so much cheaper cause I would be happy with Holiday Inn Express. LOL Day Two is up.

I love your photos and tale, Chech. My daughter went on the Trafalgar tour of Rio, Igassu falls, Buenos Aires, Lima and Machu Picchu, five years ago, and she did not give me much of a description, except that she preferred Rio to Buenos Aires. She also told me to go to Macchu Picchu, after I had read your tale. I don't think they even brought a camera, just used their phones.

Yup...I preferred Rio to BA too. There was a lot more to do in Rio....and as you will see on my second day in BA...there's another reason.

Yikes!! I wouldn't want that job, not even if they pay me $10m. At least they have phone service up there.
