Great tale. I would find it much too humid there, after having lived for more than 20 years in the dry climate of Calgary, so very happy to read about your adventures. I am not particularly afraid of snakes unless they are poisonous. We had a a harmless long skinny snake under our tent once in Dinosaur Provincial Park, it quickly climbed a nearby tree. Otherwise I have never seen a snake in Alberta. DH visited Costa Rica in the early 1980's and wanted to go back with me, but we never got around to doing it. He brought back bags of coffee beans, which was very good.

I was in Wainwright with the army for a few months. The snakes weren't nearly as scary as the ants. I was sitting with my legs in front of me in a spot that was supposedly "enemy territory" when I looked down at my legs and could not see the green of my pants. There were so many ants, my legs were red. I jumped and screamed while the sergeant just killed herself laughing. Stay tuned for the next tale at the end of March: Egypt!

I’m hoping to get caught up on your tale while at the hospitable tomorrow. I have to admit, I’m not a fan of snakes, so I’m not sure if I’ll enjoy reading the part about that!

Nothing of real note about the snakes.....just the guide walking ahead of us on a trail to make sure there were none hiding under the leaves. We never saw one first nor last.

I got up to day seven while at the hospital today. So far it sounds like a really good tour. Definitely one that would like to go on someday.

It was a lot of fun. CR is cheap and the travel distances were short as well. It's one spot I'd happily go back to. Ollie also said March before Spring Break is a great time to go to get drier, less humid air. (Even with the rain, the humidity was there but wasn't oppressive).

I have just finished reading your tale Chech and enjoyed every word of it and loved the pics. I doubt that I will ever travel there, so seeing your photos and reading about your tour is appreciated. Thank you for sharing. Pauline

When I booked this tour with Trafalgar in the past, I had booked it for February, as I hate humidity, and was told that was the best time to go. If I everdo book this tour again, it would be for February or March. I could never go when it was really humidity as I would not enjoy the trip. I really hate humidity!

Glad you like it Pauline! And yeah, if I go back, it would be Feb/Mar for the dryer weather. I was surprised at how mild the humidity was. It wasn't sticky at all. But it'd be nice to see everything without the low cloud and fog in the way.

I finally finished reading this tour tale when I was at the hospital for treatment yesterday. it sounds like a fun trip, and it’s one I’d like to do someday. I’ve already wanted to go zip lining in Costa Rica?
