Chasing massive storm in Kansas. Produced one small tornado....moving east with it now. Very intense lightning.

I missed out on the Wyoming storms on Monday. The tour didn't start until Tuesday, but they sent out an email inviting any of us who were in town to go....but I was down at the mall...an hour away by train and couldn't make it back. They saw several tornadoes. Yesterday, we headed into Nebraska and met up with some great thunderstorms near York, Nebraska. Got a few nice shots including lightning. I love the colours! This is one to print and frame!

Yeah. We're lucking out. We've seen more storms than the previous tours this year. We're in central Nebraska now but the storms keep collapsing on us.

Thanks for visiting my state. See? Kansas isn't all that flat! 😀 Hope you will actually make it into Kansas City in August! 🤞

I finally got a chance to chat with the tour leader who'll likely be doing the solar eclipse tour. He said for the eclipse, they have reservations in Ogallala, Nebraska. Since the viewing is on the last full day, they want to be close to Denver. In Ogallala, they have the choice of almost any spot from Casper to Grand Island. But for the first few days, we don't know where we'll be going. All depends on the storms. We got really close to KC a couple of times and for a brief period, we almost chased into Missouri but since we had to meet up with Mini-Tour B, we had to go west and ended up in New Mexico. Everyone in my van has already signed up for another tour next year. Five of the six of us are on Tour 3 at the end of May (starts in Oklahoma City and chases in Texas, Oklahoma and area). The sixth is doing the same tour in June next year. This is an addictive activity. The photo opportunities were amazing, too. Took this one during our last storm. The guy in silhouette was our number two tour leader. He loved the photo.

Your far more organised than me. I'm still organising my photos from India 8 months ago, almost there though. I might do up a short trip report as well.
Will check out your videos now

Chech: Those videos were amazing but I sure wouldn't want to be close enough to tape them. There were two particularly that would terrify me . Wonderful photography . Purvis

I'm a lot farther away than most of the videos appear to show. I just watched the tour leader....if he didn't look worried, I wasn't. The one that got the closest to us was the Pratt Storm. It had stayed stationary for hours and not long after we arrived, it started to move. The rain came our way and the lightning was among that. Getting back in the van in a hurry reminded me of my army time....only we carrying tripods instead of rifles.....but they were just as clumsy as we tripped over ourselves getting back aboard...LOL. The most fascinating part about most of the videos....there was no thunder. I deleted the audio cause it was just all wind and no thunder.

Wow Chech! what a trip! can't wait to show the pictures to my son in law, but I do hope he doesn't want to do the tour on his own! Thank you so much. I noticed your name in the pictures, hope you are planning an exhibit or entering them on contests. price winners all of them. Hope next time you come to California and Arizona during monsoon season, not as dangerous (except for flash flood on desert roads) but equally spectacular.

Thanks! I'm hoping we hit up Arizona/Utah for the solar eclipse tour...we have 5 days of storm chasing before the eclipse and can go anywhere in that area. And yes, storm chasing on your own isn't that easy. You need two people minimum in order for one to drive and one to navigate. I highly recommend doing one of these tours before trying it on your own. One can learn a lot! The pics are not the best on my blog cause anyone can extract those photos. They can't do that from my flickr page, so the photos are protected.

Good monsoon weather in August. I'll be in St Louis and North Carolina, and for the eclipse in South Carolina. by then it will probably be hurricane season, and more tornadoes...
