I've never been but wondering if there are any Polar Bears running around Edmonton? Seems to be a very northern city.
Bet it is a beautiful province. I have never visited Alberta. But it's on my bucket list. Would love to see the Jasper and Banff area as well.......

plane2catch: The only place I know in Canada where there are polar bears near a town is Churchill Manitoba . I did wake up at 2am a couple of years ago to find outside my third-floor bedroom window was a couple of moose laying in the snow. My main complaint it the Canadian Geese that land in the pond nearby. Their honking in the early morning wakes one up . You should consider coming out to Canada's west especially to see Banff and Jasper. There is a Trafalgar tour that leaves Calgary and goes through the mountains to Vancouver.

Yeah, I may very well end up on that Trafalgar Tour if I can't convince a relative or two to make a road trip up through the Canadian Rockies. I would like to visit both the Canadian and the American Glacier parks. The Trafalgar trip doesn't stop there but I figure if I am that far West I might as well include that in my trip.
I guess when you speak of visiting Florida you have quite a long haul either by plane or car!

I guess when you speak of visiting Florida you have quite a long haul either by plane or car! I have been to Waterton Park several times but it now about 10 years ago. It is the Canadian part, just on the north side of Glacier Park. It is very beautiful there, actually more beautiful in my opinion than Lake Louise. However the lake is not green like at Lake Louise. It is about 3 hours south of Calgary. One time we went for a drive from Waterton where we were camping, to Glacier Park. Unfortunately, the weather changed quickly, there was a thunder storm, so after about half way on the Going to the Sun road we turned around and headed back to Waterton. DH did not like that road, too scary and winding, I love those kind of roads. Banff is about 1.5 hours from Calgary, maybe closer to 2 hours in the summer with all the traffic. Accomodations are very expensive within the Parks and often fully booked in summer. Canmore which is just outside the park, just before you get to Banff, is more reasonable. The summer season is short. June used to be the rainiest month but it has changed in the last few years. July and August are generally quite hot, even in the mountains. The drive from Calgary to Vancouver is very beautiful, but we have generally rushed through the mountains. It takes about 1 long day of driving. We do drive through the Canadian Glacier Park going to Vancouver but we have never stopped there. I live in Calgary

So excited Marie Louise. I just booked a trip to Glacier National park, Banff and Jasper. We will be staying one night in Waterton.

That sounds wonderful. I hope you have good weather. It usually doesn't rain much in the Rockies in July. It can be very windy in Waterton with an occasional thunderstorm and sleet. i remember one year in mid July where for a day it was very cold, with sleet and the Americans wished they had brought hats and mitts, but that is unusual. The Cameron Lake drive is scenic, if it is an optional.

This will be my first tour with Globus. It should be interesting to compare it with my Trafalgar experiences.
