I've finally had the time to write the first part of this. By putting it on this Forum, it encourages me to complete. Its something I have been meaning to do for ages but time has been against it. Link is here I've only typed about a third of the second part so could be a wee while before I can post that. I always intend to do some each day but .....

Hi Solaria,
You've written a great first part to your trip report, can't wait to catch up on the remainder of the trip!

I can’t wait to read about your trip Solaria. I just need to finish Oz’s and Chech’s tour tales, and then I’ll start yours.

My tale seems to be rather longer than I thought so I am writing it in three parts. Part 2 is Here Its brought back fond memories so I am having fun but daily life keeps interfering such as a rat taking up residence in the back of our fridge - but we finally GOT HIM yesterday!! Yay. Our cat is NOT a hunter - ran & hid!! Cheers J

I’m finally going to start reading your tour tale this morning. I’m looking forward to hearing about this tour, and comparing it to the Spain and Portugal tour I did with Insight in 2008.

Great tale Soaria! I went back to Portugal last year, since I didn’t see enough of it the first time around, and your tour tale makes we want to go back to Spain. I’m hoping to go on the Northern Spain tour in the next couple of years.

I have a Viking river cruise book marked that goes along the Douro river from Porto with a day extension trip to Salamanca - Perfect!

I went on Trafalgar's Best of Portugal tour last May, and it was a great tour One I would highly recommend. Portugal is a great country, and I'm sure you'll love going back there.

Great tale, Solaria, I am enjoying it and remember Spain thru you (did not go to Portugal, so that part interests me as well) You did not miss much not going to Tangier, maybe a longer visit could be worth it, but just the one day is not, very long day, lunch was so so and having to walk between people trying to sell you everything imaginable was definitely not fun. Staying longer in the Malaga-Torremolinos area was much better choice. Looking forward to the rest.

I went to Morocco separately with Insight and loved it. I picked Insight over Trafalgar for two reasons, one, they offered a Riad option, and two, they offered tours in the winter. I went in February, and the weather was perfect. Not too hot, not too cold, and with the exception of being in the High Atlas Mountains, I never needed anything warmer than a spring coat. This is a tour I would recommend to anyone who wants to see Morocco. I would also recommend spending the extra money for the Riad option. This means you get to stay in a Riad while in Fez, instead of in a hotel. Only 8 people signed up for this on my tour, however, once we were there, a few other people tried to sign up for it, but the Riad was full. It was a wonderful experience, and one I would highly recommend.
