Hi Tiffany, Trafalgar operated the tour last Christmas as well and I did consider doing it this year but it's not what I'm after. Insight also offers a Christmas tour but its very expensive and the single supplement alone is a rip off, over $2000 from memory. Yesterday I booked my Christmas tour and now I'm waiting for Trafalgar to release their Christmas Market tours, I wish they would hurry up.

Hey Bet, I’m glad you booked your Christmas tour. What one did you book? The German Christmas Markets tour, or the one that goes to Switzerland, Austria and Germany?
I didn’t realize they offered this tour last year as well. It looks like a good tour, but it’s also expensive. I can’t remember the cost of the other Christmas Markets tours.
Insight is usually more expensive than Trafalgar, but $2,000 for the single supplement seems unreasonable. I wouldn’t be booking that tour either.

Hey Tiffany, I booked a specific Christmas tour not with Trafalgar, there's only one departure. The tour I picked goes to Austria and will spend Christmas in a small village in the Tyrol region near Innsbruck. I looked at Trafalgar etc but the selection of tours over winter and Christmas is quite limited and none really interested me as I knew I could do them anytime of the year and I want a more authentic and traditional experience. I'm waiting for Trafalgar to release their Christmas Markets tours and I plan to do both of them, I'll wait to see which dates go guaranteed before I book. After missing out Austria last year by going with Insight I'm eager to get back there this time and Trafalgar's Christmas Market tour is the only one that includes Vienna.. I don't want to get to ahead of myself though as I might not get my leave approve.

Hi Bet, I hope your leave from work gets approved soon so you can plan your Christmas holidays. Hopefully you’ll find a Christmas Market’s tour that works well with the independent tour you booked. If Trafalgar has listed European White Christmas Delights tours already, they should be posting their other Christmas Market’s tours soon. I can’t wait to hear about your tour when you get back!

Thanks Owen, the video makes me want to do a Christmas river cruise now! Maybe I’ll skip my family Christmas one year and just do it! It’s combining my two favourite things, travelling and Christmas!

Hi Bet. What tour group did you book your Christmas tour with?

Tiffany - just do it, I'm sure your family will understand.
Hi Tassiedevil - the company is called Albatross Tours, it's actually an Aussie company. If your interested, they have a good selection of Christmas and New Years tours in Europe, as well as small group summer tours. They are more inclusive than Trafalgar and no optionals to spend extra on, so they end up costing similar to Trafalgar and Insight.

I also would love to do christmas markets. Waiting to see trafalgar tours. Would probably have to go on my own so that would be an adventure. I did a tour with albatross to Gallipoli for Anzac Day a few years ago and they were great. Even when the bus broke down. We had great time.

Hi Kiwigrandma - I'll be doing the Christmas Markets by myself as well. It would be nice to have a travelling companion but can't be helped, just as well I enjoy my own company. Im wondering though how much time you get to 'see' the Christmas Markets on top of the usual included sightseeing. I think Trafalgar will release the winter & Christmas tours next month. I'm glad to hear Albatross were good as they're not overly well known but seem fairly good from what I've read so far.

Thanks Bet. I thought it might have been Albatross Tours. I've always liked the look of their Christmas and New Year tours. On my Egypt tour a few years back, there was a lady that spent Christmas in Germany and New Years in Paris with Albatross.

Tiffany - just do it, I'm sure your family will understand. My friend told me she’d be interested in the Christmas River Cruise in a couple of years, but we’d have to go earlier in December. That still works for me, it just means I probably won’t be able to take time off at Christmas to go and visit my family. I’ll deal with that issue when the time comes. It would be fun to do a Christmas tour some day.

A Christmas river cruise will be lots of fun Tiffany, seeing all the small villages pass by and enjoying the festive season. They aren't very cheap but when you consider they have many more inclusions than what Trafalgar etc offers they are quite reasonable.

I think I would really enjoy the Christmas river cruise. My friend did a river cruise with her mom a few years ago, and loved it. She preferred it to coach tours, although she said the people on the river cruise were quite a bit older than both her and her mom. I know they aren’t cheap, so when I decide to go, I’ll have to cut back on my other travels that year.
