Does anyone have any recommendations for good hotels in Istanbul ?
We're not too fussed about being close to shopping but definietly want somewhere central to the main attractions etc.
Cheers Vicki

I don't have an actual hotel recommendation - but you should definitely book a hotel in Sultanahmet (the old city area) where you'll be near all the major attractions. The metro is very easy to use - we stayed at a hotel in the new part of the city before and after Trafalgar's Best of Turkey tour in 2012 but it took quite a bit of time (about 1 hour) to get from the hotel to visit the Spice Market and the Archaeological Museum.
If you look at a map of Istanbul and see where some of the major attractions like Hagia Sohpia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace etc are situated that will help you. Trip Advisor would be handy to research.
I really enjoyed Turkey and Istanbul is a wonderful city - hope you enjoy your trip.

A friend of mine, who is also a travel agent, just stayed at the Centrum Hotel. She really liked it.
