1 ~~~ TSA Is Testing Facial Recognition Checkpoints ~ Conde Nast Traveler ~~~ The new tech lets passengers scan their own ID.
The Transportation Security Administration is starting to use facial recognition, at least on a trial basis.
On Tuesday the agency announced that it has begun a pilot of a "self-service" checkpoint at the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Washington, D.C. Instead of physically handing their IDs to a TSA officer, passengers at the new security checkpoint will insert their IDs into a scanning machine. The machine will also take a facial scan to match with the ID photo and confirm flight information in a matter of seconds. The biometric device will then display the results of the facial recognition, ID verification, and flight information to a nearby TSA officer—who will be seated behind a plastic divider—for final approval. www.cntraveler.com/story/tsa-is-testing-facial-recognition-checkpoints ~ 01 September 2020 ~
