1 ~~~ What it’s like to stay in a hotel right now ~ Conde Nast Traveller ~~~ 56 Wondering what it's like staying in a hotel post-lockdown? Senior editor of Condé Nast Traveller Rick Jordan stayed at Coworth Park in Ascot, a just-out-of-London escape for wildflowers and country pursuits
This is the Dorchester Collection’s grand country estate on the edge of Windsor Great Park, a white chiselled Georgian mansion at its heart, with sunken gardens, pathways through sweet meadowland and a clippety-clop reputation for its polo club, fields and royal guests. Bedrooms are found in the main house and in village-like clusters around the estate – the camouflaged eco spa and Michelin-starred restaurant are yet to reopen. With acres of outdoor space all around, this is just the place for a post-lockdown break; an easy-to-hand, transportative destination for a staycation with whip-smart service and experienced staff who have adapted well to the new landscape. Coworth began welcoming guests again on 4 July 2020 – so what was the experience like, and what had changed? www.cntraveller.com/article/what-its-like-to-stay-in-a-hotel-right-now

2 ~~~ The Hotel Experience Is Set to Change Way Beyond Cleaning Protocols ~ Conde Nast ~~~ Hotels will operate differently in the coming years, and enhanced cleaning protocols are just the tip of the spear.
The hotel industry responded quickly to the threat of the novel coronavirus by introducing a blitz of safety measures, including electrostatic spray guns across all of Marriott's 7,000-plus properties, U.V. germ zappers at Hilton, and all sorts of industry-wide adjustments to turndown service (treats in bags draped over the door handle) and new rules about pool decks (no shared chairs). Oh—and mandatory face masks for all hotel workers, of course. . .. ... www.cntraveler.com/story/the-hotel-experience-is-set-to-change-way-beyond-cleaning-protocols ~ 9 August 2020 ~

4 ~~~ The 10 Biggest Mistakes to Avoid When Checking in (and Out of) a Hotel, According to the CEO of HotelTonight ~ Travel and Leisure ~~ Sam Shank, cofounder and CEO of top-rated booking app HotelTonight, is here to help make sure you never make these common mistakes upon hotel check-in or checkout.
Editor’s Note: Travel might be complicated right now, but use our inspirational trip ideas to plan ahead for your next bucket list adventure.
Travel logistics, in general, can be a major source of stress while on vacation. It’s when we’re rushing through airports, out of hotel rooms, or off to a dinner reservation that things get overlooked or lost. The easiest antidote, which is challenging when you’re in transit, is to simply slow down. Taking the extra few minutes (that you usually don’t want to spare) will help you keep everything organized on the road. There’s no reason to check out of a hotel room, finish packing, search for your travel documents, and call an Uber all at the same time. Focus on one thing at a time and give yourself room to breathe instead of over-scheduling, and you’ll ultimately avoid some of the classic mistakes travelers make.
When it comes to staying in a hotel, there are some definitive dos and don’ts to follow that will make your travels even more enjoyable. To ensure your check-in and checkout process is as smooth as possible, we called on a hotel expert: Sam Shank, cofounder and CEO of top-rated booking app HotelTonight. With Shank’s invaluable advice, we’ve outlined the 10 biggest mistakes to avoid when checking in and out of your hotel. www.travelandleisure.com/hotels-resorts/tips-for-hotel-check-in-checkout ~ 28 July 2020 ~
