Has anyone been to London recently and seen a show? What's good?

I haven't been recently, but have seen four shows in London. All were good.
I took a quick look to see what is playing now, the only one currently listed that I have seen in London is Billy Elliott. The others I saw in London were Ghost, Lord of the Rings and Dirty Dancing. I have seen Cats, Les Miserable, Jersey Boys, Phantom of the Opera and Wicked in Toronto. I have also seen the Lion King in New York. All of these were well done and the performers were very good - I imagine London would do a smashing job on them as well.
It depends on your personal tastes. If I were going now, I would choose Mamma Mia (ABBA music), Once or Matilda.
I was in London with my Mom in 2009 and we went to Royal Albert Hall to see the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra perform the music from James Bond films - this was a happy compromise, as I am not a huge classical music fan. We both really enjoyed this show and the venue.

Thanks LKD.
I'm actually looking at Once. I love the movie. I am also looking at Shakespeare in Love. I love that movie also.
I've seen most of the other musicals and have no interest in sitting with hoards of kids at Matilda.

I was in London in August and went to a few shows. I saw Dirty Rotten Scoundrels which was by far my favourite. It was a very polished production and there are actors that you would recognise if you watch British TV shows. The Pajama Game was OK but I wouldn't rave about it. I went to Porgy and Bess at the Regents Park Open Air Theatre because I wanted to go to the open air theatre and that is what was on at the time. It was a very good production but not something I would choose to go to if there were other options. I like happy endings The open air theatre was a great experience though. If you are a fan of Fawlty Towers you should consider going to the Fawlty Towers Dinner at the Charing Cross Hotel. It is on every Sunday night and we had a great time there. I also went to Royal Albert Hall because I had never been to a performance there. It was one of the Proms and WW1 themed music that I didn't recognise but still enjoyed being there. I would thoroughly recommend Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, it was really excellent.
