Tony and I came home Tuesday evening, we thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Our experience was very similar to Vera's and I really admire her tour report and all the details. We also had Heather as TD and Antonio as driver.
The major difference was that our tour went to Toledo on the first day of travel and that Segovia was an optional on the last day. We really enjoyed Segovia and got to see the inside of the castle.
Several of the hotels were different but were overall very good. We were lucky in Valencia and got a very large room, others were not as lucky, it is quite an old hotel but located right downtown.
We took all the optionals except for the first 3 as we were suffering from jetlag, wish we had arrived 1 day before the start. We didn't take the Fado and dinner optional but instead together with another couple we took a taxi to a seafood restaurant close to downtown and enjoyed a great meal.
After the tour of Lisbon we didn't continue on the optional to Estoril and Sintra and were dropped off by taxi at the Gulbenkian museum not very far from the hotel. We enjoyed the afternoon there and then walked back to the hotel.
Also in Seville we didn't take the Cordoba optional because of the long bus ride and enjoyed exploring Seville and the Royal Palace.
We stayed 2 more days in Madrid and spent Sunday at the Prado museum which is closed on Mondays and on Monday we went to the Palace.
Vera I really liked those Portugese pastries called "de nata" and in Batalha at the pastry shop I tried their local speciality which was called pudding something which was more of a cake or muffin and also very good.
I loved the Spanish coffee.
I often skipped lunch in Portugal and only ate pastries!
