Thinking about going to Spain in June next year. Has anyone done the Spanish Experience costsaver tour?....debating about this one compared to Spanish Wonder first class tour. When do the costsaver tours come out?

Joyb ... I have not done tour in question but did do Best of Spain with Trafalgar in 2013 in May and we had a very good experience and saw a lot of things. One of the best trips we have done.

Hi Joy, I did Insight’s Best of Spain and Portugal in 2008 and loved Spain. Regardless of what tour you pick, I’m sure you’ll have a great time. I’m actually hoping to go back to Spain some day, and want to go on Trafalgar’s Northern Spain tour.
One thing to keep in mind regarding Spain though is that they eat dinner very late. We never had dinner before 8:00 p.m., and it was usually closer to 8:30 p.m. or 9:00 p.m. Our tour director advised that most restaurants don’t even open for dinner until 8:00 p.m.

Tiffany .... we are close to booking Globus's Lisbon and Northern Spain this week for May. We have to give Portugal another shot as the one we just got back from did not exactly go as we hoped it would and we also needed to do Northern Spain to finish the country off ... . Joyb .... agree with Tiff about the restaurants, but the bars always have food going, you won't starve. But just realized neither of us really have answered your original question. If I get a chance I will compare both of them and maybe Tiff can as well and give her opinion too. For me first thing is the cheaper the tour the hotel may not be ideally located and some things excluded as inclusion into sites.

Hi Sherrie, I’m glad you’re booking your trip for next May soon, and that you’re giving Portugal another chance. You just got bad luck by getting a few horrible people in your group, which is really not the fault of the tour or the country. I’m sure you will have a great time this time around. You’ll have to let us know about the tour, and about Northern Spain when you get back. It’s on my list of places to go, so I’d love to hear about it.

Thanks Tiffany and Sherri for taking the time to respond to my post. Sherri, sorry to hear that there were problems on your Portugal trip....not sure what the issues were but it's sad when a trip doesn't turn out as you had hoped. I did Best of Portugal with Trafalgar in May and had a wonderful time. Thought Portugal was beautiful with very friendly people. They seem to appreciate the tourists and I would certainly highly recommend this tour. Had 50 people on the bus and an excellent group to travel with. There was only one problem with two ladies who didn't pay the single supplement and ended up together. They did not get along and would complain to anyone who would listen. I ended up simply avoiding both of them...which was quite easy to do since there were so many of us! Found our suppers were late although our t/d Pedro...who was amazing!...tried to get our meals as early as possible. I always carried a few snacks with me on the bus as I'm not used to eating so late.
Decided not to do Spain in 2015 and booked an Insight tour instead....Focus on Ireland. Will be turning 65 next year and decided to take a trip back to my roots as my grandfather immigrated from Ireland.
Still interested in comments about Spain though as it is still on my wish list.

Hi Joy, I was in Portugal in May as well and really enjoyed my tour. We were a full coach with 52 people, but everyone got along, and we didn’t have any difficult people on our tour. We also had great weather, with only half a day of rain. The dinners were a little late in Portugal, but not as late as they are in Spain. Our tour director in Spain told us that the wait staff don’t usually show up for work until 8:00 p.m., which is one of the reasons we couldn’t get dinner earlier than that in Spain.
You’ll have a great time in Ireland. I was there in 2010 and loved it.

We did Ireland in April and it was wonderful. We did a Canadian company called Royal Irish. A bit smaller bus that could get onto some of the smaller roads. Ireland is another country that is calling me back again.
For the Portugal trip the main issue was 4 people on the bus that were just nasty and argumentative, weather was an issue but that you cant help. Agree that the country was great and people there were very hospitable and reason we are going back.
As far as your two trips .. both seem similar so good luck with your planning.
