Tiffany has been away and she said several times she wasn't on Facebook. Think she knows we can be found through the Insight board. Pretty sure she visits there.

The TT change management team ( aka ? ) forgot about the 11th commandment " Backup before Cleanup "
when they trashed the forum features and "Old" Travel Reviews / Tales in Sept 2010 & Feb 2012.

Oh, you must have missed my post last week. I had been told it would vanish on the 9th. (Which would explain my lack of shock, I guess...LOL) Oh....now I do feel mean, I did miss your post Chech. Was it posted here or on the "other" one? I really must pay better attention..

Thanks for the welcome Oz-T and Chech - love the little ginger cat Oz-T we've done two Insight tours, Italian Escapade in 2007 and the forum members' tour to France in 2012. We thoroughly enjoyed them both! I'll try to put together tales from my memories at some point. We did our first ocean cruise this year, from Miami to Alaska, also a fantastic trip. We're hoping to do another trip in 2016, quite possibly another Insight tour. It's nice to find another travel forum where people appreciate the fun and benefits of group tours, and enjoy them. I've visited other travel forums where I've felt like people look down on those that do group tours. Of course different people enjoy different types of travel, I just don't think people should tell others what they should enjoy and what they shouldn't. When we did our tours we also did some independent travel, just like a lot of others do. There's a place for all types of travel experiences.

Tiffany has been away and she said several times she wasn't on Facebook. I tried to send a message to Tiffany via the old site's private message facility. Unfortunately, there were many Tiffany's and I had no idea which one was correct. If anybody is in contact with her, please direct her to our new forum. Last night, I planned to browse more member names and send similar messages. Unfortunately, the Trafalgar Forum suddenly closed before I had made much headway. I am sure that there are hundreds (thousands?) of people out there who are away on holidays or only seldom look at the Trafalgar forum - when they eventually do they'll then understand that it's closed for good. A two week warning was never enough for so many loyal Trafalgar customers. I suspect that very few will ever find us here, even with measures put in place. That will also backfire on Trafalgar's sales, which makes this entire exercise one of the most self-harming marketing decisions I've seen a major corporation make.

Hi Dell. I look forward to reading your insights into Insight.
I would hope that this forum would never look down on anybody for being pro-guided tour or pro-self tour. I have done both and they each have their merits. I never said much about any self-tours I enjoyed because I didn't think this was appropriate on Trafalgar's forum. However, we now have a broader platform to discuss all sorts of travel and I will be not only contributing some stories about non-guided tours, but encouraging others to do so.

I was just over on the Insight board. Apparently, Insight is getting a facelift as well, but the forum is going to remain. A new one is expected with the facelift and they're leaving the old one around so that we can move stuff over....guess I gotta go copy those four tales now....

Hi, Welcome to the Travel-forum. Found the link to this site via the Insight forum - thank you Owen. Great to see so many of the Trafalgar users here - it was such a useful research tool for planning trips as well as being enjoyable to read all the various comments. Thanks to OzT for setting up this new forum. It will be great to also discuss/get feedback on other tour companies, cruises, river cruises etc.

Click on profile in the menus and then click Edit Profile to the right. To use my own pic, I selected Use Only Uploaded/Linked and to the right of that, I browsed for my pic and uploaded it and saved changes.

It's the cartoon ones like Missie's and Denise's that I'm wondering about.

I'm guessing they just get them from google images. Copy it to your hard drive and upload it from there. That's how I would do it.

That's exactly what I did. I just googled an image of Boop, found one I liked, copied it to my picture file and attached it per Chech's instructions. It worked perfectly. The quality and size of the avatars on this forum is perfect!!

Thanks Rosemary. I sort of feel like a shepherd - I managed to steer most of the flock to safety when Trafalgar gave us just a few days notice that they were evicting us from our home of many years so they could tear the joint down. But then again, I can understand how Oskar Schindler felt at the end of the movie when he said "I could have got more out .... I didn't do enough...". It's disappointing that there must be so many people who never got the chance in that couple of weeks to see the closure messages on the forum. I began sending personal messages but time beat me. Maybe I spent too much time getting this set up properly instead of contacting people. I hope they somehow find us here if they wish to continue travel discussions in a web forum. I am very thankful to Owen who, without being asked, joined up immediately and set about copying large quantities of our important material before it was lost forever. It will form the basis of our forum's vision for providing helpful travel advice to members and guests. But this forum will only be successful if it remains active. This can't be left to me and the regulars alone because we'll end up looking like a small clique; it relies on anybody who can spare a little time to log in and type something as often as they can. Thanks to you and every contributor for your support.

Hi Oz. I've been searching and searching for the "reply to" post and just realized it's the "quote" button! I love exploring and finding new things!! Yep, all pretty new stuff here, Ms Boop. It's a bit like moving into a new house isn't it? We will all be discovering weird and wonderful new ways to navigate here - I keep bumping into walls that I didn't know were there.
