1 ~ Best of France ~ September 2012 ~ Solaria ~~~ 382
This travel tale was written by Solaria and relates to a Trafalgar Tour. It was originally posted on the Trafalgar forum.
We began this tour 4 days after our tour of Britain & Ireland. we spent 3 days in London and then took the Eurostar to Paris to commence this tour that evening. Another large group - 46 of us. This trip was not quite as fast paced as the UK one. My first impression of Paris was one of crowds and chaotic traffic! I appreciated Paris more at the end of the tour when we had 2 nights there, went up the eiffel tower, had a bus tour of the city, visited the louvre & Versailles and finally a night cruise on the Seine to admire the city dressed her best under the glow of evening lights. a great way to end this tour.
In between we visited several varied towns & cities. I loved the smaller old towns such as St Pauls above Nice, St Emelion, and Mont St Michel & Carcassonne. I also really enjoyed the chateau at Chenonceau, an absolutely amzing place in a great setting - and for the cherry on the top they had donkeys! My favourite animal!
I don't remember much about the food. Nothing was a stand out which was a little disappointing given the reputation that French food has. Perhaps its just me but the food I remember and love is the meals we had later in Italy (Umbria). however, the meals were not bad or I would have rembered that!

2 ~ Britain & Ireland Panorama ~ August & September 2012 ~ Solaria

we are finally back home in NZ after following this tour with a Best of France and then an 8 day rest in Rome & Assisi.
we were a bit dismayed at first with having 47 people on this tour as our prevous tt's had only 24 & 27 members. Our TD, Vicki was an amazing organiser however and was excellent at rallying the troops to get on the bus on time. moreover she was a fellow kiwi so we knew we were in good hands! The tour was busy and there were early starts but we saw and did lots of interesting site-seeing and entertainment. The first highlight was the Edinburgh tattoo which was absoluely fantastic despite starting in the rain. I would reccomend to anyone considering this tour to arrange to join in august when the tattoo is on, you won't regret it! many of the dinners we had included musical entertainment especially in Ireland & Wales and these we really enjoyed. Cities such as York, Bath, Chester and glastonbury were my favourites but when I review all my photos I would say thst everywhere we went & all that we saw was amazing and we thank Vicki, and Slav our driver for such a memorable time. For much of the tour I and several others came down with a bad cold. If I had been at home I would have huddled in bed bemoaning my fate but the thought of somwhere new to see kept me going and I can still say it was a great trip despite feeling below par. I also thought that Vicki was very good at giving usa thought provoking history of some of the places especially in Scotland - Glencoe & Cullodin, and the troubles the Irish People have had over the years.
