Well, I am packed and ready to go on the TT Copper Canyon tour. Airport transportation picks me up at 4:45 a.m. tomorrow. I couldn't ask any friends to retrieve me at that hour, particularly on a Saturday. I'll be flying to Houston (Bush Intl) and then to Phoenix. I have a tight connection in Houston, so hopefully there will be no delays. I should be arriving in Phoenix around 10:00 a.m., so plenty of time the rest of the day. I'm a football fan, so I'll probably be watching some of the games at the hotel. The hotel on Day 1 is the Marriott Courtyard Phoenix Airport. I'm supposed to call the hotel upon arrival and they will send their shuttle to pick me up. There is nothing scheduled for the first day, just arrivals. Instructions for Day 2 will be provided at the front desk upon arrival and the TD is supposed to be at the hotel in late afternoon to answer questions. Welcome Reception Dinner is on Day 2.
One glitch - and there's always one - I went to the car wash yesterday and ran my ATM/Debit card for payment. The cashier pointed out to me that it had expired the end of August! Yikes, it was true! So after a conversation with my bank (stating they sent me a new one in July), I am traveling without my ATM card as it has expired and it cannot be replaced before I leave. I'm glad I realized it before I left, so that I could make other plans in that regard. I'm also going to obtain some pesos in the Phoenix airport in light of my "glitch".
TT advises us to bring a flashlight - I've packed two small ones that I obtained from Bass Pro and will fit in my purse or a day bag. This tour is all-inclusive. There are no optionals. All meals are provided. TT also states in the documents: "This spectacular region is still off-the-beaten path. Meal choices may not be as extensive as on other Trafalgar vacations and hotel facilities in some towns may be limited. This journey requires walking on uneven surfaces and steps. Occasionally, the itinerary may be subject to delays or variations due to circumstances beyond our control; it is best enjoyed by the experienced traveler who can take such variations in stride".
I'll write a travel tale when I return. I did read joed's tale from 2008 on the TT forum before I selected this tour.
Hasta Luego,
Mary

Can't wait to hear about it, Mary!! I came so close to booking the next CC tour on Sep 20th but it was just too tight of a timeframe. I'll be watching football on Sunday too! Go Patriots! LOL

I returned from the TT Copper Canyon tour this morning at 12:15 a.m. I have to attend to work for the next few days, but will start posting my travel tale later this week or at the latest next weekend in the appropriate section.
So as to not keep you in suspense, it was a wonderful tour. We had 34 travelers on tour and it was a lovely group to travel with. More later this week...
Mary
P.S. No rattlesnakes!

Looking forward to hearing about it! I was wondering if the hurricane heading for the Baja Peninsula was going to affect you, but I think you beat it!

I have posted Days 1 and 2 of my Copper Canyon tour so far. I just posted Day 2 and it doesn't move it to the top of the travel tales, so I must have incorrectly set it up.

It looks alright....just something in the forum that keeps it from moving to the top. Might be a option that the Admin has to click. Keep posting the tale and see what happens.

Day 3 of my Copper Canyon tour is now up in Travel Tales. It still does not move to the top, so you'll have to scroll down to find it.
I'm going to try to add a few pictures before I finish it.

Yeah, there must be something in the forum because tales from 2007 are at the top, rather than the most recent ones.

LOL...my sister once had a bat fly into her house. She called me screaming. I told her to open the windows as far open as she could and stand back. Since bats 'see' by echolocation, when they fly near the window, they'd determine the "wall" was not there and continue on. It flew about two circuits of the room after she opened the windows and flew right on out. Of course, closing the door before they get in works even better! LOL

Day 5 of my Copper Canyon travel tale is now up.
Chech, I didn't know about echolocation and will keep that in mind next time I have an encounter with a bat - maybe this Halloween . Actually, something good to know.
All~ I'm working on my pictures and will post them under the Final Thoughts portion of my tale. I'm not a very good photographer, though, and will try to pick out the best and some that I think will interest everyone.

I just realized why your tale isn't popping up to the top of the page when you post. You have to make new posts for it to move. Since you already have the days set up, you're just editing existing posts, so it doesn't treat that as a new post. I set my tales up like that, but to get it to move to the top, I post a new reply in the thread saying "day # is up" and it moves the thread to the top. When you put up day six, just make a new post at the bottom saying day 6 is up and it should go to the top. Looking forward to some pics!

Chech, You're right! I just made a post at the end of my travel tale and it's back at the top.
All ~ I've been derailed temporarily due to work demands, but will have the rest of it completed and posted later this week/weekend.
