I haven't finished the last few days, but I enjoyed it very much so far, specially the great photos. I'm glad you are back home safe Chech.

I was able to read up until day five while at the clinic yesterday. So far, it sounds like a great trip. Egypt's been on my list for a while, although it's not at the top of my list, so it will probably be a few years before I get there.

Chech: Unless I'm crazy your pictures taken this trip seem more distinct (better camera I suspect). I wouldn't worry about the grey hair ; mine has been totally white since I was in my late 50's (children will do that for you) in your case I suspect your army experiences have a lot to do with yours and you should be very proud of every grey strand. Thanks for your service from a fellow Canadian. Purvis

Thanks....and oh yes, much better camera. I had a cheap 35 mm with me then because I didn't want to take my good one to Bosnia. The grey comes from dad's side of the family. They were all grey by 30.....my brothers by 45...so I'm doing pretty good at 51.

Chech|: Never thought to blame my white hair on my Irish father. My maiden name was Mahon. Purvis

Were you covered up because of the sun, or because or was cool?

With the plaid shirts? Yeah...just to keep the sun off my arms. In Cairo, it was cooler - mid teens, so I had the t-shirt under it and it was warm enough. In 1994, I was there in January and temps in Cairo were like 12 degrees so I was wearing my jacket.

Love these photos, I'm a big fan of before and after pics!! (p.s. - grey adds character, wisdom, experience )

Hehe.....well now I'm adding to my grey....I realized that by writing these as I go means there's a lot of funny, awkward sentences and typos, so I'm going through every tour tale and editing them line by line. I'm averaging about one tour day every day. That includes replacing the photos with ones I've adjusted in lightroom. It should, quite seriously, take me till Christmas to finish.

Don't know it you are aware chech, but Insight are following Trafalgar and closing down their Bulletin Board Forum. Closes next month on the 12th. At least it lasted a few more years than the Trafalgar one did but once they moved to the new platform, the writing was on the wall.

Yeah, I'm not surprised. I stopped going there because some of the regulars were real snobs. I did go to TT's website the other day and HOLY COW...what a mess it is. The interactive map is ridiculous and you can't even see the itinerary on one page....and the banner at the top just reduces the whole page. I can't believe how user unfriendly it is!

I was able to read a few more days of your tour tale yesterday before I got interrupted. I've made some friends at my clinic, so they come over and start talking to me, which means I have to put my tablet down. I'm hoping to read the rest of it while waiting for my flight at the airport tomorrow. So far I'm really enjoying it.

Chech, I'm only now catching up on your tale and pics. Always enjoy a good read when it comes to travel. I still hope to see Egypt one day.

Thanks! Now is a great time to visit Egypt. The threat of any violence is not worse there than it is in New York or London and next year the new Egyptian Museum opens - relocated from Cairo to Giza. That in itself is worth a return visit.

I still have to finish reading your tale. I only have a few days left! Maybe I'll have time over the weekend.
