Have you ever been blessed to see this? Sorry, I don't have pictures to share. Wondering if perhaps you do? I have seen a double rainbow twice in my life. The most recent sighting occurred in Maui.

I've seen them a few times, and they're always nice, although the second one was always fainter than the first, and the colours were in reverse order because it's a reflection of the first rainbow (reflected in the raindrops). Red should be the outer band of a primary rainbow, with violet the inner band. The opposite applies to a fainter, secondary rainbow. But the most extraordinary one I ever saw was a twinned rainbow. That's two separate rainbows, each bright, and both with the outer band in red. But they're pretty rare because they only form when conditions are perfect, with different sized raindrops involved. That explains why I only witnessed this on one occasion. And for a non-scientific reason on how rainbows are formed.....

Owen, thanks for providing the link. I haven't looked at all the links but found one picture of rainbows over Mount St. Michel in France. I remember that I saw a rainbow at this same location back in 2007 when I went on TTs Highlights of France tour.

0z, in the links that Owen provided it appears that there are several pics of a "twin rainbow". I had forgotten that in fact the colors are reversed in a double rainbow.
