The forum has been very quiet of late. Is everyone away on their travels? There used to be lots of traffic and conversations but very little of late. I miss the chatter.

I’ve also noticed the forum has been extremely quiet lately. To be perfectly honest I feel it has been gradually getting quieter since the sad passing of Tony and Tiffany. Also members may not be travelling as much these days. Here’s hoping the chatter starts again soon.

Yes I have noticed that too. I don't have the energy to travel as much nowadays. In February my father died, he was 94 and living in Malta. I went over with my youngest daughter, the weather was quite bad at times and I got a very bad cold, I was was sick and tired for 6 weeks with a respiratory infection. Then we went back a month later with more of my family, to clear out his apartment.
Although the flights are much shorter than what you Southern Hemisphere travellers are used to, I found it exhausting and the flights of 10 hours from Calgary to Europe, plus the connection times for the second flight, made the travel times more than 20 hours. I would like to travel to Europe again but with age my energy levels have really diminished. I love reading about every one else's travels.

Yes, it's a bummer getting older 😣 The long travel takes its toll and I too got sick at the end of the last one, even though the actual tours were great!
I have looked at perhaps one more northern hemisphere jaunt but then I think of the arduous plane flights and I said to Eddie we are not going unless we win Lotto so we can fly business class!!
Sorry to hear about your Dad. No matter how old they are when they pass its a wrench - more so when they were living away from you. My mum died at 91 in 2011 (same day as 9/11) and it still affects me each September.
Go well, and if you don't travel far, enjoy small, perfect trips locally. We are going to Christchurch on Friday for 5 days. haven't been since the quake so it will be interesting to see the changes.

I have recently booked a couple of tours in Europe for September/October 2020 and am hoping to fly on frequent flyer points. I can't book the flights yet, as my return date hasn't opened up. Only another week to wait and I'm hoping to fly business class from Canberra back to Canberra.

It's nice to see that some are still traveling. I have given up since both age (85) and a recent fall which put me in the hospital for 8days has left me unable to walk any distance . I am thankful for all the wonderful tours I've taken over the past 15years so have no complaints. Travel while you can as conditions can change without warning and all you have left are pictures and memories. The world is a magnificent place so see as much of it as you can while you can. Purvis

Yes, the forum has been quiet for some time. I think it's because most members are busy on other things. I know that I have so little time to myself these days that I am as guilty as anyone for not getting here regularly. When I do, I get bogged down with administrative stuff, usually reviewing membership applications etc (99% of whom are potential spammers) - it takes a bit of time keeping this forum safe and clean, although I do get some help. I believe that the forum needs all of us members to take the time to liven it up with more discussions. If anybody has ideas please post them here and I can set up separate sub-boards etc if that helps. For starters, we could post an update of what we've been up to lately!

Hi Purvis, I was pleased to see you reconnect here. Sorry to hear about your accident and that your travels have stopped. You have plenty of travel experience that I'm sure will be useful to people here if you're able to do so.
