I am considering a 1 week trip to Paris in June 2017. I want to stay in the 6th arrondissement close to the Seine or the 1st/4th. I want to be near the Louvre, Notre Dame etc where it is easy to walk to. Any hotel suggestions where the cost is reasonable, hotel has Wi-Fi, TV has some English speaking stations ( I like to watch some TV before bed after a day of touring)?
Someone on the forum made a great recommendation when I went to London staying at the Premier Inn County Hall. It was perfect.
Thank you
Liz

Elizabeth may I suggest you go online to Booking.com and type in Eiffel Tower there you will get an array of hotels with the prices. The one good thing about booking. com is that if you decide within a few days of arriving in Paris you find a hotel that you prefer better you can always cancel and there is in almost all cases no charge. I have been to Paris twice but with Trafalgar who made the arrangements so I have not really paid much attention to hotels and prices. Good Luck. Purvis

You have to be wary of using third-party sites like booking.com, travelocity, expedia, orbitz etc. They're great for research but I'd recommend booking via the hotel directly (website or phone). Hotels will generally match any price you find on third-party sites. Those that book via third-party sites are the absolute lowest priority level...so if a convention comes into town or anything crops up that requires extra rooms, the third-party booked rooms are the first to be cancelled. Sure, it doesn't happen to everyone...but it's a significant risk that I wouldn't want especially at the high season.

Hi Elizabeth, I personally can't recommend a hotel but a work colleague recently stayed at Hotel Plaza Etoile and she and her family were happy with it, nothing too fancy but very good, clean, wifi, etc but it's not in your chosen area. I was once an au pair and lived a street back from the hotel and definately can say it's well located, short walk to Arc de Triomphe and Champs Elysees, good metro connections and a good market nearby. I recommended the area to my work colleague as its so close to everything but at the same time just a couple of streets back away from the tourist drag as many of them don't seem walk beyond the Arc de Triumph. I wouldnt go much further away though as it becomes more residential.
Im not a big fan of third party sites either but have used booking.com a lot and never had a problem. I don't have the luxury to afford to stay anywhere too fancy and have always booked small hotels/b&b's. I also tend to book the cheapest room category unless there's a good deal on, so it doesn't leave much room for any disappointment and probably why I've never had an upgrade either. With anything it pays to do your research.

Elizabeth: I suggested Booking.com mearley as an info site as it gives you a good idea of what is available in the area you wish to be in. I have booked several times with booking .com and have never had a problem. Just returned from 9days in London and booked a new Hampton by Hilton hotel just 5mins from Waterloo station through booking.com . Must say that it was the best choice I have made in years. The entire 8day stay with breakfast included was cheaper than the Premier Inn I stayed in last year which didn't provide free breakfast. The hotel was just a little over a year old and very well appointed. Purvis

The times I've stayed in Paris I have booked at Hotel Victoria Chatelet. It is in the 1st arrondissement close to Notre Dame and short walk to many other attractions, has wifi, has at least one English tv channel, right next to a Metro Station, family owned. However I did notice that they have renovated since I was last there in 2012 and have increased the price accordingly. I've always enjoyed my stay there and felt welcomed.
