Hi Tulips, just wondering if are your still planning on going to Kenya and Tanzania this year? Im still wanting to go, just need to work out when I can afford to go, probably sometime between Nov-Jan. Not the best of time to go but I'm sure it will still be fine. Hi Bet, I've changed my plans slightly. The K&T tour I wanted wasn't guaranteed at the time I was booking so didn't go with it. I think it is now guaranteed though. But, I really wanted to see gorillas and I found a gorilla trekking tour that does Rwanda and Uganda. So I am booked on that and am looking at a week in Kenya before. My TA sent me an all inclusive package on Friday for an "Out of Africa" experience. This means I pay one price and can do as much as I want as everything is included. I'm still picking myself off the floor over the price though. I'm going the last week of August. Im still trying to finish my tour tale for my 2016 tour. I'm going to work on it this afternoon. Sounds exciting Tulips, I've looked at some of the gorilla treks in Botswana as well and can't get over the prices. But you can't always put a price on things. I'll be interested in hearing about it when you get back and of course keen to read the rest of your tale from last year.

A Gorilla Trek sounds exciting. Wish this had been offered when I visited Botswana back in 2013.

I'm not adept at the site to get the order right. Sorry about that. I'm just happy to have the tale done.

Thanks for the tale Tulips, another great read. I must have been mistaken as well, believing gorillas were in the Chobe NP in Botswana. I somehow got confused with elephants, thanks for clearing it up.

I'll be doing a 6 week overland tour starting at the end of June - South Africa. Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland and Lesotho. We also have a few days in Cape Town before the tour. A big thanks for the information about the private photography tour in Cape Town. My friend and I will book a full day tour with this company to see the Cape of Good Hope and the penguins.

I’m trying to print the tale, so that I can read it on the subway, but it seems to be in backwards order. Is there a way to change the order so I can read it from day one to the last day?

I haven't figured out how to change it. If you are printing, maybe you could reverse the order of the pages? I'm trying to figure out how to change it in the meantime. if anyone on here knows Wordpress and can help, I would greatly appreciate it.

Don’t worry about it Tulips. I’ll read it on my tablet while I’m at the hospital next Tuesday. That way I don’t need to print it.

Tulips, what beautiful pics of Africa!!!! I loved your tour tale (figured the pages are in wrong order), but sooo awesome to see our country through the eyes of another traveller.
Franschhoek is the next town from us (about 25kms drive) and you are quite right, Antonij Ruperts' wines are excellent!! My best treat is to go on a Saturday morning to Franschhoek (normally there is an outdoor market), and browse around all the shops, I love to watch all the people and lots of tourists, maybe even talking to some of them. Glad you enjoyed our country, Cape Town is awesome!!

I was so busy at the hospital yesterday, running around to pick up things, that I didn’t have time to read your tail. Because they give me Benadryl before treatment, I’m too sleepy to read while getting treatment. I’m going to try and read it while I’m at the hospital next Tuesday. I looked at the pictures though, and they are beautiful.

I was at the hospital for treatment yesterday, so I finally got around to reading your tail. It sounds like you had a great trip, and almost makes me want to go to South Africa someday. I’m really allergic to mosquito bites though, and that would keep me away. They love me, and I blow up like a balloon from their bites, and have even gotten an infection before from their bites. Even bug spray doesn’t keep them away from me! I’m glad you had such a good trip though. It sounds like you really enjoyed yourself.

I got eaten alive in Ecuador without reaalizing it. The bites were raw and I was surprised they didn't get infected. I loved South Africa so much. I encourage you to go, but I understand the issues with mosquitos.

I encourage you to go, but I understand the issues with mosquitos. I have to be more weary of mosquitoes bites now, as they can cause my lymphedema to flare up if they bite my left arm. I think I’m going to have to avoid places with a lot of mosquitoes from now on, which is too bad. I’ve always wanted to go on an eco tour in Costa Rica, and I’d love to go to Peru. I’d have to make sure the mosquitoes are not bad if I go to these places.

Hi Bet, Have you decided on something? Not yet Tulips. I know the tour I want to do but I won't be going before Jan 2018 and next year dates aren't guaranteed yet. When they do I'll make a decision then. In the meantime I'm making a few home updates & I've booked a trip back home in August. I'm also planning a trip to Peru later on next year which will take priority being a 40th present to myself. As always it will come down to what I can afford.
