Just wondered if anyone on the BB has ever traveled to Greenland?

Never been there, but it sounds interesting.
Greenland was 'discovered' around 982 AD by Erik the Red. It was so cold there I don't know why he didn't change his name to Erik the Blue. In reality, this far-north frozen island had already been discovered by accident but as Erik had a bit of a hobby of killing people I guess the historians of the day were in no mood to disagree with him. With the whole island covered in a gigantic ice sheet (apart from the coast) this wouldn't have seemed a great place to build a Club Med.
But Erik must've been history's original real estate agent because he sent reports back to Iceland that his discovery was to be called 'Greenland'. This was to lure settlers there and it probably worked a treat until people left all that ice in Iceland and found even more of it in Greenland. I'd assume that the only things flourishing in Greenland were Erik's Real Estate Inc. and his law firm, Dewey, Sue M and Howe.
Things took a real bad turn for Erik because his wife embraced Christianity and stubborn Erik stuck with worshipping pagan Norse Gods. This spiritual rift must've been very important to her because she withheld certain marital activities from him, although it could be argued that the real problem was that it was so damned cold all the time. So Erik spent his remaining days being both cold and lonely and establishing his colony at Disko Bay on the west coast. Sadly, any grand plans for a dance floor with strobe lights and mirror balls never eventuated.
But I digress. I don't know of anybody visiting Greenland. Is it a popular tourist destination?

I've never met anyone from Greenland nor have I talked with anyone visiting the country.
I guess the country population is around 55,000.

Sounds about right. Greenland would have to be about the least populated country/dependency on that basis - even less than here in Australia. You'd be pretty well guaranteed of your privacy anywhere inland.

But I digress. I don't know of anybody visiting Greenland. Is it a popular tourist destination? I'm going in September. Cruise through the northwest passage for 16 days from Nunavut, through the islands as far north as Pim Island and then down the coast of Greenland with stops daily.

Chech, I am really looking forward to your trip tale. I guess you are going to be on a cruise so will only have day stops through out Greenland. I am curious to learn whether they primarily speak Dutch or English? Also wondering if you'll see a McDonald's in Greenland. Hope you get a good picture of their Ox.

Chech, you are headed to the middle of nowhere. Just read that Pim Island is uninhabited.
Almost like taking a vacation in Siberia

Just researched on the web, Greenland does not have a McDonalds. Chech, please take a look around and let me know if Greenland has any chain food outlets or if they only have mom and pop diners?
