That's the thing about the Surface...it can be what you need it to be. For me, it's now my desktop but it's also my travel tablet and I can sit out on the deck and use it like a laptop. That's how versatile it is. Thirty-two bit is slowly going the way of the dinosaur, so I imagine it's only a matter of time before you'd have to upgrade. Why not do with with a shiny new laptop/tablet hybrid that could do you for years?

Thanks for the info. Need to think about it, as we already have an up to date pc, do I want/need a hybrid or just upgrade my tablet? This would be for my studio outside the house where I'm still using our old pc that runs XP 32 bit! Really needs upgrading but I have programs on there that can only run on 32 bit. They can be upgraded but thats An extra cost so.... decisions, decisions, but the Surface does appeal... Solaria, I just got one today. But I got the i5 128gb one as the Microsoft store here just sold the last 2 256gb ones this morning. 128 will work for me just fine. So far, I'm loving it for a couple of hours. I'm switching back to Windows from Mac. It shouldn't take me too long to find where things since I have an online help here, aka Chech.

I still haven't gotten past day 10 of your travel tale, as I've had non-stop company since last Monday. I'm looking forward to finishing it next weekend, once they are all gone!

I have finally finished reading your tale. I think it is a wonderful way to travel and would have liked to do that 10 years ago or so. I would have liked to go exploring on my own. Great tale as usual and looking forward to your next adventure. Really curious also about your arctic adventure.

Yeah, I really liked the freedom. The South America tour next month is with the same company, so I'll have the same type of setup...but no pre or post days. The Arctic Adventure is only 3 1/2 months away! I've already laid aside my favourite cold weather gear and even made notes about how I like to layer....cause I always forget when the cold weather hits and it takes me a couple weeks to experiment...LOL

Hello again Well your sales pitch worked Chech plus added info from the knowledgeable salesman so I now too have a new surface pro 4 i5 128gb. Still in box and its still pouring here as it has been for several days, so Can't get out to studio but I will check it out in tablet mode first and get used to windows 10. Isn't new technology fun!

LOL...! Now comes the fun part...the new computer nesting phase! I'm actually still playing with mine...I've been going through my tour photos (30,000 of them) and deleting the excess or blurred ones and fixing minor stuff like straightening up crooked ones. Then I'm uploading them to the 1TB of One Drive I got with my Office subscription. The Pro's photo viewer has some great minor edit choices like straighten, crop and other basic functions that I used to have to go into an editing program to do. Nice to be able to do the edits on the fly like this.

Woohoo! Too bad Microsoft doesn't have a referral program! I uploaded my entire music collection , all 3500 songs, to OneDrive to listen to on Groove music app. Grove got just the basics, enough to let you listen to your own music.

I finally finished your tale and loved it. I would definitely consider using this company if I go back to Italy. I love how they give you a few days in each area, so you have time to see more of the sites, and you can book optionals through them or through another company. I can't wait to read about the next trip. If only I could go on three or four big trips a year. As it is, I'm thinking of taking a break from Europe next yer in order to save some money, although, as we get closer, I may change my mind!

Or you could take advantage of a closer tour that is cheaper...like Costa Rica in February when the temperature is more comfortable. Or the Yucatan. Even South America can be inexpensive. A quite trip to Peru just to take in Machu Picchu would be fairly inexpensive and the weather is very comfortable in the drier season. Or even closer to home....the canyonlands if you haven't been there. Still one of my favorite places. The scenery is magnificent and always changing. Or the Rockies. I compared Monograms to Trafalgar for the same itinerary I'm doing next month in South America and it comes out to roughly $5000 cheaper for the base price. Even for the optionals I will pay for that TT includes....now that I know how much I'm spending...it's still $4500 cheaper. Add in a few hundred more for the dinners that are not included with Monograms and round it off at about $4000. The only downside to Monograms is that they have a very limited selection and after South America, there's not a lot they offer that I would choose over TT, Insight or Eldertreks....but I'm tickled pink I ran across them before I did Italy. That itinerary really rocked!

That itinerary really rocked! I'm actually thinking of going to Vancouver for a week next year. I have family there, so I would have a place to stay, and I haven't been there in about 8 years. My friend and I are also talking about a cheap all-inclusive trip to the Caribbean next March. She would really like to go on an Eastern Caribbean cruise, as we went on the Western Caribbean cruise a few years ago, but after you add everything up, a cruise is not that much cheaper than a tour of Europe. Costa Rica's been on my list for years, as has Peru, but I promised my friend that I'd wait to go to Peru with her. I'm not sure if she'll be able to go there next year. As for South America, my friend loves cruises, and found one that goes to Brazil, Argentina and Chile. I'm not sure if I want to do a cruise in South America, as I won't see as much as I would on a tour, but I told her I'd consider it. I need to see the itinerary first. This is a few years off though as it will be quite expensive. There's only about 5-6 tours in EU that I still want to do, and part of my wants to finish EU before going to South America or Asia, etc. We shall see. I wanted to look up Monograms yesterday, but I got busy and didn't get to it. I'm going to try and check them out today.

A cruise of South America wouldn't be too bad since so much to see is on or near the coast. I would tend to aim for one that spends as some time in the very south around Tierra del Fuego and the Chilean side just north of there.

I really like the Monograms style. It's too bad they have a limited number of itineraries. After South America, there's isn't a lot they offer that I want to do.
