I have to compliment the Canadians as I think Trudeau has gotten this right way over Obama. Just heard on the news that Canada plans on accepting 25,000 refugees but only women and children. Not young health men who perhaps may be more likely future terrorist. Wondering if Australia has any such plans? We are having a wild political season here in the States. Our Donald Trump is quite outspoken. I really enjoy watching the debates and look forward to the general election.

There was an announcement last September by the Australian Government: This is a one-off intake of 12,000 refugees displaced by the conflict in Syria and Iraq. This additional quota is on top of the existing 13,750 places already set aside for this financial year. Displaced women, children and families will be prioritised from camps in Jordan, Lebanon, and Turkey. Single men are considered best able to look after themselves. There will be a focus on persecuted minorities.
And I believe that the first ones have already arrived. www.smh.com.au/federal-politics/political-news/first-family-of-syrian-refugees-to-arrive-in-australia-20151116-gl096d.html

My understanding is Australia is accepting 12,000 Syrian refugees. Supposedly families, Christians or others from religious minorities.
