Now that Air Canada flies to Dubai...I'm in the preliminary stages of planning a Round the World Whirl. I'm looking at stops in places where a full tour isn't feasible but the distance doesn't make it worth the long trip as well as checking out spots that I may want to go back to. Right now my possible stops I'm considering are: Dubai Delhi (Golden Triangle) Kathmandu Kunming, China (stone forest) Perth (may be too hot for me in March) Taipei Seoul Victoria, BC. Are there any spots in southeast Asia that might be worth a two or three night stop? My interest is mostly in scenery and iconic spots (like Taj Mahal) type of stuff. Anything in the above locations that are a must-do? Anyone been to the Stone Forest? Worth the stop?

Palawan. Worlds best island. Lots of diving/snorkelling.

The Stone Forest is on my bucket list, Chech. I couldn't manage it the last time I was in China.
March is a very strange month in Perth. The hot days of Summer have gone and it can be quite cool in the evening. Normally there are no 40ยบ days at this time.

N o 40 degree days! How about no 30 degree ones! LOL
I'm himming and hawwing on Perth cause that is a spot where I could easily do a two or three weeks on a tour.
My one question is that if I stop in at Kunming, can I go on to Taiwan? Does China have any problems with travel to Taiwan and vice versa?

A visit to the residence of one "Boop" to visit 5 cockatiels would be a must...LOLOL!! And as usual, shopping down Government Street would be a "must do"...you might like the Royal Museum. Tourists flock to the whale watching which I always overlook as I spent many years sailing the coastal waters with the whales and dolphins sailing right alongside, but its likely a must do!
