I am enjoying your tale Tiffany. I have never been to Greece and don't think I will ever go. I wonder how the archeological sites compare with Turkey., I know you have been and my tour was very similar to trafalgar's. The archeological sites are quite similar, especially in terms of how much has been dug up (with the exception of the Acropolis) but we saw a lot more archeological sites in Greece. While I enjoyed Greece, I have to admit I prefer Turkey. Turkey has a different feel to it, and Istanbul is a great city. We also saw different types of sites in Turkey. Greece was really all about history and ruins, with the exception of the monasteries in Meteora. I’m just about to get started on day 7, but I don’t know if I’ll have time to finish it today. I didn’t take a lot of notes on this trip, so I have to look at my pictures and then go through my book to get the information I need. At least I highlighted everything we saw and Smaro told us about in my book, so it’s easy to find the information I need.

Thanks Solaria. I’m still no 100 per cent, and can only eat small amounts of food at a time, but at least the worst is over. I’m working on the next day now, and hope to have it done by tomorrow. This was a good tour, and I hope you get to go on it someday soon.

Thanks Daphne. Your trip will be a little different than mine, as you are going on the 7 day cruise, but the land portion of the trip will be the same. You’ll have a great time on this tour, just keep in mind that it’s fast paced and that there’s a lot of walking. Hopefully you get Smaro as your tour director. She was a wealth of knowledge and very passionate about her job.
I’m also done day 15 and hope to post it this afternoon or tomorrow morning.

Tx Tiffany, the walking will make up for all the food to come on the cruise !! Yes, that is true, although the food was plentiful the whole trip, not just on the cruise. One person on my trip was wearing a pedometer, and she said she was getting almost 20000 steps a day during our full days. She was getting less on the days where we spent the afternoons driving on the coach. The walking wasn’t a problem for me, as I get between 20000-33000 steps a day at home, but it’s a lot for people who are not used to moving a lot.

Love all the walking, believe it or not, we have done 3 Traf trips and I have lost weight with all of them, so bring on holiday, no worries about all the wonderful food, lol!

My friend lost some weight on our trip as well, but she's not a walker at home. I stayed the same.

Thank you Tiffany for this great travel tale - it was almost like being there! No wonder you slept when you got home, all those really early starts and then late nights too! But then as the TDs were always reminding us you are not on vacation you are on a tour! I will have to up my fitness before I could tackle this one, but I would definitely like to.

Great tale Tiffany, I had a lot reading to catch up on as I've just been too busy. Glad you had a better time than your S&A tour. Its definitely a busy itinerary but the cruise makes it a good mix.

But then as the TDs were always reminding us you are not on vacation you are on a tour! I will have to up my fitness before I could tackle this one, but I would definitely like to. The good thing about sleeping 12 hours after getting home was that I didn’t have any jet lag. I felt good the next day, and the next night I went to bed at the same time as usual, and by the time I went back to work, I was back to normal. Being on tour is defiantly not a vacation! I tell people all of the time, if you want a vacation, go to a resort in the Caribbean. If you want to travel, and see the sites, go on a tour.

Thanks Bet. Yes, we had a better tour director on this tour. She wasn’t controlling, and didn’t try to make us stick close to her during our free time. That being said, we didn’t have a lot of free time at coffee/lunch stops on this tour, so there wasn’t much time to wander around. I preferred it that way though, as I don’t like wasting 30-45 minutes at a coffee stop. Yes, the cruise portion of the tour is relaxing, although it’s still fast paced in the scene that you see a lot in 4 days. One couple from our tour spent a few extra days in Athens at the end of the tour, and then went to a small island for 4 days just so they could enjoy the beach and relax.

Hi Tiffany, I enjoyed reading your tale about Greece. I have been there four times and hope to return again. Lot's of nice detail in your tale. Thanks for sharing! You must really love Greece if you’ve been there four times and want to go back. Did you go on tours of Greece or independent travel? I enjoyed Greece, but other than the islands, I don’t feel the need to go back anytime soon. I feel like I saw everything I wanted to see from mainland Greece.

I have been on a tour of the mainland similar to what you saw but I didn't get to see Monasteries on the cliff. I have cousins who live in Athens and on the island of Skiathos. So I visit when I can. Skiathos is in the Sporades. I have also viited the Islands of Skopelos and Hydra. Haven't made it to Santorini, Crete or Mykonos.
