I'm off to Peru on May 23, 2015. I'm going on Globus. Trafalgar was my first choice, but their tour was already full.
I booked directly with Globus and I've been happy with their booking, communication and service to date. I also booked my air through them. I have a direct flight from Miami to Lima.
I'm looking forward to my first trip to South America.

Thanks, Wen.
I'm glad to hear you've had a good experience with Globus. I was disappointed when I couldn't book with Trafalgar for the time period I could get away from work, so I'm glad to know this.

Just made my final payment on my May tour, Peru Splendors with Globus!
I booked this trip directly with Globus and so far, I give them an "A" grade based upon all of my contacts with them, the materials they have sent me about the trip, invoicing, etc. I receive my documents at the end of the month.
Still to do: Transportation to the airport (2 1/2 hours away) and making a plan for sightseeing for my time in Lima before the tour begins. Will look at the travel tales of those who have been to Peru for ideas.

Mary, you’ll have to let us know what this tour was like when you get back. Peru is on my list of places to go, and while I’m open to traveling with Globus, I always seem to go back to Trafalgar. I’m familiar with them and know what to expect. Most people who have travelled with Globus have said good things about them. It’s Cosmo that I’ve heard nothing but bad things about.

Something in the back of my mind says TT and Globus both contract the same South American company to run their tours there. The Peru tours, regardless of company, tend to do similar itineraries with just variations on time in each place and hotel quality. I didn't find a tour that did more than 1 night at Machu Picchu (wasn't necessary) but did see tours that did no overnight there so it was in and out in the same day...so whatever company you go with, make sure it has the overnight in Machu Picchu Town. This means if the weather is crappy on the first day and better the following morning, you have the option of going back up. I keep looking at Globus but still find the same issue - their tours are full very early a lot of the time. But I have discovered their sister company Monograms which is more independent touring - they book all the hotels, airport transfers and intra-air if you want plus they provide a local agent if you need stuff booked. Most locations include the orientation tour and some include more touring or there are optionals you can book plus the option to book other things you want to do through the agent/hotel. What I like is that almost no lunches or dinners are included so I'm free to eat at McDonalds, at a pub, at a restaurant...or have room service or just have a snack depending on how I feel. This way, I'm not paying for meals I really don't want. And the overall cost is 1/3 to 1/2 of what a tour of the same region costs. The Australia tour I'm looking at is longer, sees more and costs more than 1/3 less. The South America tour I'm looking at is half the cost.

I will definitely provide an overview of my trip when I return in the travel tales section. I plan to provide some feedback about Globus as a tour provider. Trafalgar was my first choice for Peru, but they were completely full during the time frame I could travel. Globus had an opening and I booked. I'm leaving May 23rd.
I have 2-3 tours in mind that I would like to go on with Trafalgar and will probably book one when the 2016 brochures come out. Like you, I've liked their product and I know what to expect and their price point fits my budget.

I don’t think Monograms would be the tour company for me, as one of the things I love best about touring is dining with the group at the end of the day. I like it when most dinners are included, and when they are not included, I sign up for the optional dinners. One of the things I disliked about my Swiss and Austria tour was the lack of included/optional dinners offered, which meant having to find a place to eat on my own. Also, as a solo traveler, it’s nice to have company for dinner, which is one of the advantages of the included dinners. I’m not a fan of McDonald, so I’d only eat there if there was no place else to eat.

I had no issues with them at all. i had a couple of free days in Lima before my tour. There are some ideas in my tale. I can highly recommend Haku Tours for local site seeing with a private guide.

I am back from my Peru Splendors tour with Globus. I had a fabulous time on this tour. I will be writing a 'mini-tale' of my tour later this week.

I hope the post tour jet lag isn't lingering around Mary!
I'm also looking forward to reading you tour tale, both about South America, as well as your thoughts on Globus as a tour company.
