I"ve tried Haggis. It wasn't bad, but not something I would order again. I certainly wouldn't want it from a can. Ewwww!!!!

Thanks for the long johns tip! Thank goodness they make adult onesies these days. I think that may be the way to go. 4 more sleeps and haven't started packing yet! Wonder when the urgency will kick in?

LOL...the urgency will hit the day before. I'm a month out from Panama and my luggage is in my spare room with a small pile of clothes on top of it. Oh, one thing to remember....check your luggage before you close it up: They are sneaky.

If my ginger guy could buckle himself in, I am sure he would want to go. I am constantly going away, shorter weekend trips and my small luggage is usually out. I am hoping he will not notice that the little luggage is now a bigger one. I usually get the cold shoulder for 5 minutes then I am forgiven. Is this your cat in your luggage, Chech?

LOL...no. Though both of mine used to love sitting in totes and luggage. One passed last February. Her sister will be 19 in three weeks. All she does now is sleep and meow for milk. That's my two a few days before the tabby passed.

Beautiful kittys Chech. My boy Max is 10. He is extremely bossy. And as bossy he is, he is just as affectionate in return. It's just the two of us and I think he has issues with sharing. ? I have a lot of issues putting him in his harness. I can't imagine strapping him into a suitcase. Lol.

I'm leaving on October 24th on a Mississippi River cruise on the Queen of the Mississippi, a paddlewheel boat. It's a 'bucket list' trip for me.

Cool...how long is the cruise??? I'm one month out from Panama. Figured out that they have a hop-on-hop-off bus that stops right by the hotel, so I know what I'm doing on my pre-day. And I just learned that I'm flying business class from Bogota to Panama on Avianca...which means I can use the lounge there for free during my 8 hour wait! Very cool.

Looks like 82 days until I leave for the Cook Islands. It's just the right time of the year to be in the South Pacific Ocean. Sun, sand and surf! It will be a complete escape from very hot Perth.

April, 2015, will see me landing on the Gallipoli Peninsular for the Centenary of the Landing celebrations. There was much family involvement there in 1915. This will be part of a cruise which includes some time in Rome, Istanbul and Athens as well as some islands.
It's just too far away to count the days but will loom up very soon!

Have a fantastic trip to Galipoli next April, Tonnet. The centenary of the landing will be amazing, especially if you have a family connection to Gallipoli 100 years ago.
I'd love to read your tour tale, once you've returned from the cruise.

Very cool. it's 7 days New Orleans to Memphis. It's not a long flight for me, but I'm coming in a day in advance as I received a complimentary night and I'll take in a bit of New Orleans. The boat has several solo cabins and I will be in one. This will be my first river cruise anywhere.
I read the description of the Panama trip and it seems like another great trip that's I'd want to put on my list. The hop-on-hop-off buses are always a good choice. You are on the Bogota extension before Panama?

I'd love to read your tour tale, once you've returned from the cruise. I certainly will. It is a special pilgrimage for me. I marched on the 50th Anniversary in Sydney behind the banner of the Fighting 13th Battalion and had planned to do the same in 2015 but the order of march has changed. It will be very nostalgic to land on that beach!

Oh cool...that sounds like fun!! There's no extension in Bogota prior, just Cartagena after (which I will do). My flight from Toronto is to Bogota and I have to wait 8 hours for my connection to Panama in a small airport. (I could have taken an earlier flight, but it was $1000 more! So...yup...I sit in the Avianca lounge and watch movies for a few hours for $1000) .

Think I mentioned to you before that my grandfather was there as part of the only North American unit - the Royal Newfoundland Regiment (but they didn't the the 'Royal' until after the war...the only unit to be given the honour in WWI). The unit was decimated at Beaumont Hamel on the first day of the Somme, but they have decided to celebrate the 100th at Gallipoli instead of Beaumont Hamel. Can you imagine the insanity that will be northern France on 1 July 2016? So, you might see them there. I'm considering doing a tour of Turkey in February for my visit to the site.

Have loved reading about everyone's travel plans We have a Baltics cruise booked for the end of May with P&O. It's on the Britannia which has it's maiden voyage in March next year (our cruise will be the maiden Baltic cruise). We have never taken a cruise before so it will be a whole new experience. We leave from Southampton (with 2 days prior in London) and our ports of call are Kristiansand, Oslo, Copenhagen, Stockholm Tallinn, St Petersburg, Helsinki, and Bruges then back to Southampton. We also have a Amsterdam to Budapest cruise planned for 2016 (will book as soon as dates are released in January). We already had that booked and had paid deposit for September next year but the tour company cancelled (it's still sailing but this company has removed it's clients from the sailing). Long story but the short version is we were offered one other date that did not suit so we were refunded our deposit. We were very disappointed with the way the situation was dealt with (my husband was particularly upset as this was a long held dream for him) so I complained to the company and am now very happy with their response and what they have offered us I normally never complain but I felt it was warranted and I'm glad I did. Also on our wish list is the Trafalgar Contrasts of Europe (rail travel) possibly coupled with the Greek Island Hopper (maybe late 2016 or 2017 if finances permit). Feel like I'm mainly working to fund the travel bug but no complaints

Great plans Taskaz, especially the Baltic cruise; loved Helsinki, St. P. and Tallinn in that part of the world. Viking has a cruise from Amsterdam to Budapest, is that the one you are taking? Enjoy the planning!

Hi Californian Yes I have read so many good things from others who have been to the Baltics. We are doing the river cruise with APT (an Australian based company). They use the same boats as AMA Waterways. I love planning the trips and all the research etc

I have a couple of recommendations for the Baltic area, Taskaz, if you are interested: the book The Madonnas of Leningrad by Debra Dean, it is a novel, but based in the time of siege of St. Petersburg and the Hermitage museum, and the documentary The Singing Revolution, about the occupation and fall of the USSR in the Baltic States, that started in Tallinn. You'll be visiting both cities, they gave me a lot of insight about the people and what they went thru at those times. There is a lot of info as well if you google it, especially about the Baltic Way. There's also a movie about Rasputin and the conspirators, we visited the palace where it took place. Wonderful people everywhere, I really enjoyed my tour to that part of the world.

Thanks so much for that info Californian. I've just passed it on to my hubby too It would be nice to have that background of events before we go. We are hoping to tour St Petersburg with Alla Tours and the tour we have chosen does include Yusupov’s Palace where Rasputin met his fate. We are very excited about visiting this area as it was a real spur of the moment thing. It's been on the "list" but I thought we were unlikely to get there. We received my husband's automobile association magazine in the mail and it includes travel. I noticed a small advertisement for this tour and made a casual comment and hubby said why not check it out. When we saw that Bruges (which we have both visited but not together) was the last port of call that sealed the deal. Still can't believe we're going

Three weeks to my departure for Panama! Just started harassing my TA for the documents! It will be my first indication of what the optionals are...if there are any. Any I may have found a kennel for my cat! My sister likes to leave the cat in the basement and on busy days I learned the cat could be alone for 24 hours at a stretch...and the teenagers aren't interested anymore, so it turns out for the same price she can get a number of visits a day from someone that actually likes cats...LOL I'll just have to make sure she has her favorite pillow...

I’m looking forward to reading about your Panama tour when you get back. This is a tour I’d like to go on someday, and as it’s a relatively new tour, there’s no past tour tale to read.

9 more days until I leave on my Mississippi River cruise! I'm glad I am not on it this week as there have been bad storms in Louisiana. I'm hoping for nice fall weather.
I'll also be looking forward to Chech's travel tale to Panama.

Storm will be happy at the cat condo and well looked after, I'm sure. Much more so than if you were leaving a doggy. Cats sleep 23 out of 24 hours and dogs bounce 23 out of 24 hours!!

Sorry your sister isn't able to look after your cat, but it sounds like you've found a good solution that looks like it will work out better.
