All~
I signed up for an upcoming Insight presentation for April 9th at my travel agency. I went to a Trafalgar presentation in the past and they gave attendees discounts and drew for a $250 voucher to apply toward a tour if one booked within a certain time frame. I'm assuming it will be the same with Insight. I've been on only one tour with Insight - Iceland - and loved it. I've mainly traveled on tour with TT.
Soooo, tell me the tours you have been on with Insight - and whether or not you recommend the tour. My next trip is a tour to Peru with Globus in May (TT's tour was already booked for the timeframe I could travel). I would probably travel in the fall. I'm totally open to where my next destination may be.

I did the Wonders of the American West. Fabulous tour and a little more comprehensive than TTs'. Smaller group size and more leg room on that one. I also did Iceland. And I did Israel/Jordan. Now that TT does both, I recommend their itinerary over Insight. The legroom for Insight doesn't apply to these two tours.

I have been on many Insight tours, we are tall so we like the legroom on their European tours. The first one was Scandinavia and its Spectacular Fjords, my son and I enjoyed that. Then I convinced DH to go on Best of Spain and Portugal which I found very interesting since I had never been there. I had been to most places on the Scandinavia tour (I was born in Sweden). Then we really enjoyed Country Roads of France, the food was very good and we speak French, it was a fairly slow paced tour, I had been to the general area before and enjoyed the smaller towns whic we visited. Then I went alone on Treasures of Turkey tour, I enjoyed it so much so I went on the same tour with DH, 3 years later. The history and Greco Roman ruins are very interesting as is the landscape in Cappadocia. I think that is my favourite tour. We just came back from the Best of Italy, it was a very good tour and DH enjoyed seeing the sights which we had seen on TV, I had been to most of the places a long time ago.
Also a few years ago I went on the Insight bulletin board tour of southern England and the Channel Islands, they have a BB tour every 2 years now. I know that they now have a Channel Island tour.

I’ve been on two tours with Insight, The Best of Spain and Portugal and the Best of Morocco. They were both great tours, but I would recommend the Best of Morocco with Insight over Trafalgar as Insight offers an option to spend two nights in a Riad while in Fez, which Trafalgar doesn’t. When I went, only eight of us paid the extra money for the Riad option, and it was well worth it. Also, Insight offered Morocco tours in the winter, which Trafalgar didn’t (they may now as I went a few years ago), and I went in February which was a good time of the year to go. The temperatures were quite comfortable, and only got cool when driving through the High Atlas Mountains.
My travel agent has been inviting me to Trafalgar presentations for years, but I have never been able to go. I’m hoping to make it to the next one in October, as you can get an additional 10% off your tour if you book it at the presentation. My travel agent told me you don’t have to pay in full, just book and pay a deposit. I’m hoping to do this for my Easter Europe tour in 2016.

I went to the Insight presentation today. The representative from Insight spoke very rapidly and was not very clear about the discount for attending the presentation, despite three of us asking her questions about the discounts.
Interesting note with Insight: The rep stated they will begin having tours to South America in 2016.

Hi Mary, do you have a travel agent? If so, you should ask him/her about the discount. I have some friends from Australian who went to a Trafalgar seminar recommend by their travel agent last October, and they got 10% off their next tour by booking it there. In total they got 25% off as they paid in full by Jan 15 and got the return customer discount. I would assume that Insight would offer the same discount.
My travel agent told me that Trafalgar would be having a seminar in Toronto shortly after the 2016 brochures come out, and she’ll let me know when it is so I can go and book my 2016 tour at the time and get 10% off.
