Ahhh...they were bought. Very cool. How long do they intend to leave them there? 888,246 to be exact and I believe it will be there until almost mid-November, the crowds wanting to see the display are causing chaos! poppies.hrp.org.ukThe final poppy will be planted on Armistice day....

Ah....being ceramic, I wonder why they don't leave them there until 2018... money for charity more important.... ....but it would be nice if a display such as this could remain intact

Or repeat it again in 2018....more money for charity! Absolutely! And it's so beautiful too, if only for a short while!

We had a small display here in Western Australia at Albany. 30,000 poppies were placed on the beach. This was in celebration of the assembly of a huge convoy of ships arriving from the eastern states and departing on 1st November, 1914, with 30,000 troops on board. They were bound for Egypt and Europe and were also joined by vessels from Fremantle on the way. I remember my Grandfather's army number very well - 3071 compared to an issue to me much later, 2237307.
Too many of those lads who served in that conflict never came home to Canada, New Zealand or Australia.
Lest we forget!

Leo - at rest - in his favourite chair!
Leo is adorable! I wish I could have a dog, but I’m not allowed to have one where I live. It’s probably for the best as I’m not home often enough to have a pet.

I think a loud bird would be worse than a loud dog! My neighbors would be complaining in no time.

My friend’s family had two birds when she was growing up, and they were so loud, especially in the morning. They used to wake us up when we were trying to sleep in!

We have two cockatiels here - Charlie, 10 years old and Peachy who is only 6 months. Both are males so Charlie sees himself as the boss,. Both of them talk and whistle beautifully. Charlie does a lovely rendition of the Collingwood (Australian Rules Football Club) song and now Peachy is doing it too. While Charlie is not as active these days, Peachy can be a menace swooping around the living room. It is most pleasant to hear them chattering away during the day. As both their cages are shrouded overnight we don't get early morning calls.

Salty, Saffron, Skipper, Cheeky, Woody, Sassy and their ages are anywhere from 8 to getting somewhat old. I, too, shroud the three cages at night so they're not up at the crack of dawn

Not far from The Pinnacles, right near the township of Cervantes, is Lake Thetis.
This saline lake is home to living Stromatolites - at least 3,370 years old!
These formations are built by micro organisms which resemble the earliest forms of life on Earth.
This lake is not connected to the sea.

Nice picture Chech. it looks your room is very high up. The weather?.... brings scary memories of trying to fly low under the clouds...and almost landing at the wrong airport. Have a great time.

Thank you Tonnet, actually my grandson took it. I went up up to where the elevator took me, too claustrophobic to climb the 300 or so steps!

The most relaxed cat in the world. This was in Cartagena, Columbia. People started trying to wake it up and it would not open its eyes or budge. It was alive and breathing. Just out cold in the 40 degree heat.
