90436 90473 90520 90610 90658 90773 90836 The Best New Cruise Ships and Itineraries for 2024Sail Australia's remote Kimberley, or hop on board the 249th ship from legacy line Cunard. A diverse crop of new ships will set sail in 2024, including intimate yacht-style vessels to never-before-seen mega ships from luxury players like Silversea and Cunard. There will be plenty of bells and whistles expected of these brands, including restaurants from top chefs, but also a few features new to the industry (think glass domes on the hull). Some are sister ships to those already on the waters, but with enough points of difference to feel like something entirely new—including the soon-to-be-sailing largest ship in the world, from Royal Caribbean, of course. Ships aside, cruises will be taking us deeper into places only lightly touched by international travel next year, too. Australia’s Kimberley region, one of Conde Nast Traveler's Best Places to Go in 2024, is the focus for new expedition sailings from Seabourn, while Lindblad ships will hit up the little-traveled equatorial islands of the Mid-Atlantic on a crossing from Brazil to the Azores. www.cntraveler.com/story/best-new-cruise-ships-and-itineraries-2024#

The most Googled travel destinations of 2023A look at the places you were most excited to visit this year, according to Google This year finally felt like a return to pre-pandemic travel norms. Countries that suffered as a result of tourist drops began seeing increased footfall once more, and travellers took those bucket-list trips that they spent their lockdowns planning. But as the year comes to a close, we’re looking ahead to 2024 and the travels the new year will bring. As well as creating our own lists – see the Condé Nast Traveller roundup of the best places to go in 2024, carefully curated by our editors from around the globe – we’re also taking inspiration from our readers. Every year, Google publishes its ‘Year in Search’ data, a report showing what users have Googled over the past 12 months. We’ve got an exclusive look at the travel section of the data – the destinations you’ve been Googling the most this year. The data has been contextualised to take into account current events (for example, Tel Aviv was trending as a travel destination before the war broke out.) Below, take a look at the top 10 cities and countries that have seen the biggest search increases on Google year on year, and find inspiration for your 2024 travels. www.cntraveller.com/article/most-googled-travel-destinations-2023#11 December 2023

14 of the best places for pizza in MilanWhere to find the ultimate pizza in Italy's most fashionable city Italy’s south may be the birthplace of pizza, but Milan is where culinary trends are set. In Naples, it’s all about wonderfully sloppy wood-fired pizzas bursting with sun-kissed ingredients and framed by beautifully thick cornicioni (crusts). In Rome, you’ll mostly find light, thin, crispy pizza bases, much loved in the capital. In Milan, where fads evolve as quickly as the city’s fashion trends, you’ll find both – and much more, too. The best pizzas in Milan are no longer your cheap and cheerful go-to for a laidback night with friends. Gourmet pizzas topped with lavish ingredients, from truffles to Sicily’s famous juicy red prawns, have taken the city by storm. You’ll even find pizzas paired with cocktails, skilfully crafted by mixologists who know a thing or two about fashioning the perfect tipple. Here are 14 of our favourite places to satisfy your pizza craving (in style). www.cntraveller.com/article/best-pizza-in-milan22 November 2023

How to Get Free Entry to US National Parks in 2024All the tips and tricks for getting into national parks and state parks without opening your wallet. Scoring free entry into America's national parks like Yellowstone and Grand Canyon might just be one of the best deals in travel—after all, America’s great outdoors are home to some of the country’s most stunning scenery and significant historical and cultural sites. Entrance fees, ranging from $10 per person to $35 per vehicle, are typically charged at 109 of the nation's 400-plus national parks to help fund the government's maintenance of the spaces for millions of annual visitors. But in an effort to ensure accessibility for everyone, there are a number of programs that allow visitors free entry to national parks, and state-run sites too. Every year, the National Park Service (NPS) selects a handful of days (about one per season) to offer free admission across its entire network—including the big name sites like Yellowstone, Yosemite, and Great Smoky Mountains. The NPS also offers lesser-known ways to gain complimentary admission, such as through volunteer programs. Across the country, many state parks waive admission fees for certain groups (like kids, seniors, or military members), while others welcome all visitors for free. Below, we share all the tricks for getting into national parks and state parks in 2024, without opening your wallet. www.cntraveler.com/story/free-entry-to-national-parks-and-state-parks?5 January 2024

The Biggest Travel Trends to Expect in 2024From home swapping to astrotourism, these are the trends shaping travel in 2024, according to our editors and contributors. If 2022 travel trends were all about a return to travel, then 2023 was the year we went further than ever before. Travelers took to the skies, rails, roads, and seas to cross off goals on their bucket lists with Arctic adventures, luxury yacht cruises, and even the first tourist trip into space. In 2024, travelers will be putting what’s important to them front and center of their plans, valuing deeper experiences that leave a positive impact, time spent with loved ones, and wellness moments that last well after checkout. We’ll be choosing destinations carefully, slowing it down to enjoy the silence and the stars, indulging in our love of food in new and interesting places, and immersing ourselves in wellness practices that help us live longer. www.cntraveler.com/story/travel-trends-2024

Everyone, It Seems, Is Cruising to AntarcticaTravel specialists are reporting record cruise bookings—but what does that mean for the White Continent's fragile landscape? “I love telling people that Antarctica will be the trip of their lifetime, and they kind of roll their eyes. And then they come back, and they say, ‘You were absolutely right. Antarctica wasn’t just the seventh continent—it was the most amazing experience of my life.’” James B. McClintock, professor of polar and marine biology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, has experienced the wonder of the White Continent repeatedly over the past 30 years, on more than 15 research expeditions. But even after three-month stints on the dramatic tundra, at bases like the McMurdo and Palmer stations, McClintock struggles to put the magic of Antarctica into words. It’s the unimaginable scale of the landscape. The huddles of penguins, with no innate fear of humans—it’s ethereal, otherworldly, and yet none of that is enough to describe just how special Antarctica is. www.cntraveler.com/story/antarctica-cruise-bookings-at-all-time-high

The Best Places to Travel in MarchWhether you’re ready to hit the slopes or flee to warmer climes. You're reading this because you're likely deep in internet research, trying to determine the best places to travel in March. It's that awkward month between winter and spring, when it can get surprisingly hot and still unseasonably cold at the flip of a switch. Whenever leaving the house, it's a toss up—is this puffer weather, or the time to switch to sandals? Flee the indecisive climate and get thee to somewhere that's properly hot. Or properly cold. Though the notorious spring breakers tend to command all the attention at airports and train stations this month, there's so much more to traveling in March than sipping margaritas with a herd of Gen Zers (sorry, Gen Z). As spring looms in the northern hemisphere, some destinations begin to emerge from winter hibernation with blooming flowers. Meanwhile, buzzy spots in South America and Asia offer a blessed lack of the humidity (and crowds) you might experience in the busier summer months (did someone say shoulder season?). Whether you’re looking to warm up with a tropical beach vacation or want to cling to the last days of winter with a ski trip, this is the month to do it. Here are nine of the best places to travel in March, from Big Sky in Montana to the Okavango Delta in Botswana. www.cntraveler.com/gallery/the-best-places-to-travel-in-march#8 January 2024

21 Cheap Places to Travel in 2024In these countries, the current exchange rate will be your greatest ally. All listings featured on Condé Nast Traveler are independently selected by our editors. If you purchase something through our links, we may earn an affiliate commission. There are many factors to consider when planning a vacation, from finding cheap places to travel and the safety of your intended destination to hotel options. But like it or not, there’s one thing that influences our travel decisions more than anything else: money. All those resort fees, plane tickets, and life-changing meals add up pretty quickly—so at the end of the day, we really want to prioritize places where our greenbacks have the most spending power. We did a little digging to find the countries where the U.S. dollar goes the furthest, based on current exchange rates. And while our fickle global economy means those rates can change at any time, certain places have consistently offered more bang for our buck over the years—and, fingers crossed, they should stay that way well into 2024. Without further ado, here are 21 of the best cheap places to travel around the world. www.cntraveler.com/story/cheapest-places-to-travel-in-the-world#

Your face could be your new passport: a new trial means travellers won't need to show passports when entering the UK Facial recognition technology will be used in a new trial, allowing travellers to enter the UK without their passports After a long journey, slowly snaking around the terminal in never-ending queues and fumbling in your bag for your passport at border control is never a good way to end a trip. When the UK's eGates first became available to UK travellers, they were praised for offering a faster alternative to the human-run desks, but since then, they have faced criticism for frequent technology breakdowns, from machines refusing to accept passports or gates imprisoning unassuming jet-setters in between its doors. So the promise of a streamlined, technologically advanced border control system might just be the solution travellers have been hoping for. www.cntraveller.com/article/new-trial-means-travellers-wont-need-to-show-passports-when-entering-uk#4 January 2024

From credit cards to memberships, these are the best ways for gaining airport lounge access We decode the rules for entry so you don't have to There’s no denying it: being in an airport terminal is draining. The crowds, the often subpar food options, and the lack of adequate seating make for a tedious and uncomfortable experience. But fortunately, most airports have lounges, where travellers can ease these woes with complimentary craft cocktails, comfy armchairs, and buffets of gourmet food. In some of the more modern spaces, there are even tranquillity areas for meditating or napping, cycling and yoga rooms, and shower suites for freshening up. There are more ways than ever to access these sanctuaries amid the airport bedlam, but each tactic is becoming more expensive and competitive as airlines and credit card companies try to solve overcrowding issues across their lounge networks. www.cntraveller.com/article/airport-lounge-access#28 December 2023

This is officially the greenest country in EuropeA new study reveals the top 10 eco-friendly countries in Europe When we decide where we want to travel for our next holiday, as well as weighing up how beautiful, affordable or delicious a destination might be, we should also be considering the country’s eco-efforts. By now, we’re all aware of the detrimental effect travelling can have on the environment, so being selective about our holiday destination of choice can significantly help reduce our carbon footprint when exploring the world. But deciding on what exactly determines whether a country is “green” or not is no mean feat. A new study by Hemsol, a Swedish-based renewable energy company, has taken a look at sustainability data from countries across Europe to establish which destination is officially the continent’s most green. The study looked at statistics on everything from renewable energy shares and municipal waste recycling rate to public transport, woodland, farmland and carbon dioxide emissions. Below, find the list of the top 10 environmentally friendly countries in Europe. We hope this inspires and informs your holiday-making decisions in 2024. www.cntraveller.com/article/greenest-countries-in-europe?17 January 2024

Onboard Obsession is a new series that explores the can't-miss highlights of the best-loved cruises—from the shore excursions to book to the spa treatments too relaxing to pass up. At first, the light was blue. A soft, cool blue that gently reflected off the still waters of Igaliku Fjord, but kept the hills in silhouette. Soon the warm yellows, oranges, and pinks of dawn crept into the scene, setting aglow the clouds clinging tightly to the cliffs along the shoreline. Following a quiet knock on the door, a steaming mug of coffee and freshly-baked muffin entered the scene. www.cntraveler.com/story/lindblad-expeditions-sleeping-in-a-glass-igloo-onboard-obsession?29 January 2024

These New Cruise Itineraries Offer Overnight Stays in Every PortBeginning fall 2024, Regent Seven Seas will offer luxury overnight experiences throughout Asia and Europe. For many, experiencing a destination's nightlife is an integral part of travel—from exploring the brightly lit streets of Tokyo for an evening of karaoke and street food to bringing out the black tie attire for a posh night out at Monaco's Casino de Monte Carlo. However, when it comes to cruises, passengers usually end up spending most of their nights at sea. But this year, luxury cruise line Regent Seven Seas is launching a new array of itineraries specially designed for travelers to be able to experience port cities after dark. Called “Immersive Overnights,” the new voyages offer the industry's first-ever itineraries for which the ship stays overnight (sometimes two) in every port of call, according to Regent. The sleepover sailings will take place in fall 2024 and 2025 in the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, and Asia. www.cntraveler.com/story/regent-seven-seas-cruise-itineraries-with-overnight-stays?30 January 2024
