1 ~~~ My First Pandemic Flight Was Much Less Stressful Than I Anticipated ~ Conde Nast ~~~ Flying out of Atlanta's airport, typically the world's busiest, felt both safe and comfortable.
Just last week, I took my first flight since February of this year. I may be an avid traveler, but the pandemic left me extra-cautious about leaving my city, and until now, I've felt safest making small trips by car. Since the coronavirus hit, I've regularly wondered how safe flying during the pandemic would feel.
Last week's flight came about because, simply, there was no better alternative. My boyfriend had a video shoot in Atlanta, and had to drive down to cart all his equipment. We both wanted some time off together before he went away, so the best solution was to take a leisurely road trip from New York, stopping to camp or explore some interesting cities as we did. Once we arrived, however, he needed to work—and I needed to be back in New York to do the same.
