1 ~~~ Taipei Is Home to the World’s First Urban Quiet Park ~ Conde Nast ~~~ It's a serene setting so quiet you can hear the bubbling hot springs and royal blue birds.
Taiwan, an island of 22 million people, is one of the world’s most densely populated places. But one national park just north of Taipei—home to rare aquatic plants, chirping frogs, and the endemic Formosan blue magpies—stands out for its preservation of quiet.
On June 5, coinciding with World Environment Day, Taiwan’s government and California-based non-profit organization Quiet Parks International will certify Yangmingshan National Park as the world’s first official Urban Quiet Park, defined as a natural area in or near a city that offers culturally relevant quiet experiences to urban dwellers. The park, some 43 square miles of mountainous terrain, includes famous hot springs, forests laced with hiking trails, and subtropical climatic zones www.cntraveler.com/story/taipei-is-home-to-the-worlds-first-urban-quiet-park ~ 2 June 2020 ~
