Hi all We are looking at a Trafalgar European Cavalcade tour and are thinking of having a few extra days in Paris so wouldn't go to London on what is the last day of the tour (we are having time there prior.) Has anyone done this? Also I guess that then changes our return flight so it would then be more expensive unless we went back to London? Any advice/comments appreciated
Thanks:)

I did the Grand European in 2008 and flew out of Paris. I did not have any extra days in Paris so the coach dropped me at Charles De Gaulle on its way to London. I don't remember if the air was more or not. If you are staying on you would lose the free airport transfer and would have to get to the airport at your expense.

Yeah, I just looked at the tour (via the Canadian site) and it flies out of Paris. I know some of these multi-country tours have different end-cities. In some cases, I know people are offered the chance to the take the bus back to London for a tour that technically ends in Paris. I'd say it's very possible to end your tour in Paris. As LKD mentioned, the only cost you'd have to take care of is getting yourself to the airport at the end of your days there. I've done several tours with different end cities and the cost of the flights doesn't really seem any different. It's not a factor for me in booking tours or extra days. All you have to do is make sure your TD is well aware of your plans. He can help you with any information you need on getting to the airport etc. I think what you have in mind is very doable.

I assume you will have flts scheduled to include returning from Paris instead of London.

Wen you don't say where you are from. Tours sometimes end in different places for different nationalities. Typically European tours finish in London for Australians but the same tour often finishes in Paris for North Americans. That is why Chech sees your tour finishing in Paris. I have left a tour in Paris and gone on a private tour of the battlefields before catching the Eurostar back to London and there was no problem. The bus trip from Paris to Calais is not exciting so you wouldn't be missing anything. You shouldn't have to pay more for an airfare from Paris instead of London. Usually London flights are more expensive because of the high taxes at Heathrow.

I don't think it's an issue leaving a tour early, Wen. As long as you've allowed for the transfers etc and advised your TD you're free to leave the tour at anytime. We had a couple do exactly this last year - we had travelled throughout England, Wales, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Wales again, Scotland and England again. On the last day we arrived at Stratford on Avon at lunchtime and upon boarding the coach we waved goodbye to a couple who decided to join friends who met them there (instead of heading back to London). I think they were spending time elsewhere in England and didn't need to be back in London that day. I hope you feel more comfortable on this forum. After Trafalgar basically walked away from us all, this forum is not aligned to any one tour business and everybody is free to discuss any tour company or even non-guided tours if they wish.
