Those places are breathtaking. I adore beautiful landscapes but still urban beauty has its own charm, especially if the city is well-planned. When I was choosing places for my Europe vacation, I found this list at ranker of the most beautiful European cities They rated Budapest as number one. Some may agree, some may not. But I visited this city and the downtown places along the Danube river are fabulous. Of course outskirts are not that attractive. Still, outskirts in many cities are not nice. For example when I was staying in Kyiv (which is very nice city with lots of interesting landmarks) I didn't like the residential area -- it is too grey. My hotel was among all those grey buildings and looking at greyish architecture is not that enjoyable, especially if it's raining. By the way, that vacation was in Poland and Ukraine and there we found 5 star hotels rooms where cost less than $100 But that greyish architecture of the residential area can be spotted in almost all European cities, but especially in the eastern ones. Luckily, new modern building are standing out and they are taking the emphasis off all those grey buildings. Some rate Mediterranean cities as number one
That's why such lists always deeply relate to the personal preferences.
