I'm thinking of doing Trafalgar tour to st petersberg and Moscow. It's just one week. Would be interested to hear if anyone else has been and what it was like. Thanks.

I did the train tour they used to have between Copenhagen and Moscow via Scandinavia. They did a good job with St. Petersburg and Moscow. This is where my tale picks up with the arrival in St. Petersburg: If you have the option, do some predays in St. Petersburg. There is just so much there and you only get limited time - especially at the Hermitage.

Thank you for putting this up and pointing me in the right direction to read it. Your tour sounded really busy with lots of optionals. Not sure what the optional are nowadays. Your description of your taxi and plane rides home made me laugh. The joys of travel. Loved all your photos. I think we would try and stay a few days in st petersberg before tour. We have such a long flight to get there. Not the easiest from New Zealand.

LOL....a mind without sleep does funny things. Since then I've avoided early morning departures whenever possible and now stop in Toronto for the night after long flight(s).
Those extra days would be perfect. Gives you time to adjust and explore an magnificent city. Moscow wasn't nearly as impressive, so extra time is better spent in St. Petersburg.

Thanks Chech. I've been to travel show today. Tour leaves 2nd September but not guaranteed departure. This is a bit of a worry because we are booking cruise to do after. There doesn't seem to be many guaranteed departures. It will be difficult if they cancel it but I guess that's part of travelling. Will we miss the white nights because we are going a bit later than I'd planned due to cruise dates.

Have you researched Plan B and C possibilities?

Have you researched Plan B and C possibilities? No I haven't researched too much at this stage. Will talk to travel agent. Not sure what Trafalgar do if they cancel trips and my thought is given this is only a week tour they would try and put us on another one. We will have a few days in between tour finishing and cruise starting so that will help. It's quite difficult to fit things in sometimes because we have so much flight time and if book flights difficult and expensive to change. Costs us about nz$2500 plus to get to Europe and back so really need to know what we're doing before booking.
