Anyone travelled with both companies before and can compare? Quite disillusioned with Trafalgar's offerings for next year (specifically France). We may not be able to go next year so maybe the year after. Have noticed in the past that Globus seems to often offer that bit extra eg. maybe an included visit where it is offered as an optional by another company or not even offered at all. We were interested in Trafalgar's Best of France but it has been changed as per my post re Trafalgar brochures. Globus's La France looks good but costs a bit more.
Have been comparing Trafalgar's Treasures of France and Globus's NORMANDY, BRITTANY & CHATEAUX COUNTRY. Extra day on the Globus tour and not a great deal of difference in price except we have a 10% off voucher from Trafalgar (on top of Early Bird) and 5% past traveller discount. Moulin Rouge not offered as optional with Trafalgar on this one. Different optionals offered in Paris with Globus than the usual Trafalgar offerings. Amboise Royal Château included with Trafalgar, Monet's garden included with Globus (a first on this tour for 2019). Have also compared Insight's Normandy, Brittany & the Loire Valley which includes Château d'Azay-le-Rideau and the garden's of Chateau Villandry and has Château de Chenonceau as an optional. Lots of research to do yet I think :-)

I have used both and they are pretty much the same. I won’t use either again as I no longer have any interest in 40 person tours. The last 5 Tours I have done have had 16, 12, 6, 7 and 13 people respectively. These have all been with companies that specialize in small groups and generally guarantee the departure even if you are the only one booked.
I find there is so much more flexibility, more boutique type hotels and the smaller mini vans can get to places the big coaches can’t. Further, there has always been enough seats to spread out. As a single, I appreciate having my own seat.
Just something to consider when you are researching.

Thanks Tulips - I appreciate your comments. I am actually shying away from the 40 plus coach tours route and we are looking at a tour of Devon and Cornwall to add to a tour of France which is exactly as you describe. I haven't had much luck finding the smaller tours in France and the one I did spot was a lot more expensive but early days yet so who knows what I'll come across :-D Thanks again - definitely food for thought.

Yeah, I've gone with both (Trafalgar and Globus' sister company Monograms which included optionals that joined a Globus group). Both are the same. I think the only difference is that TT has the Be My Guest experiences with the visit/dinner with a local family.
Like Tulips, I like the smaller groups as well. I haven't been with TT since 2015. Granted, to do the battlefields tour, I'd consider doing it with a large group in the shoulder season.

Thanks Chech - I remember you doing the Monogram's trip. Used Trafalgar (3rd time for me) for our European Supreme trip in May/June this year. Had a good time but problems with the TD and the larger group tour experience is starting to wear thin I must admit. Appreciate your comments :-D

We did the Globus Tour La France about 3 years ago. We picked it over Trafalgar because it went to carcassonne, chenonceau castle and moulin rouge. We have done 2 tours trafalgar and 3 globus. I have enjoyed all the tours we've done. The French one I was a bit disappointed in included dinners but had fabulous meal in Loire valley. The tour director had lots of knowledge to give us while we stood around. Lots of people like this but sometimes I just like to look cause I don't remember it all.
Tour didn't do Monet gardens but we took train from Paris which was easy. Beautiful.
Went to Normandy beaches. Rained but didn't matter. Very interesting. Really liked mont michel. Also went to Monaco and visited beautiful little place St. Paul de Venice.
We did did most of the extras and all in all had a great time. We are from nz and I often find there are no other New Zealanders on globus but usually at least a couple of others on trafalgar which is nice for us. I find these days quite a few people go in groups on the tours and tend to stick to themselves.
Must mention im not difficult to please and don't usually find much to complain about on the tours. Except for the rare duck in France. Couldn't quite manage that.
Hope this helps a little.

Thanks Denise - yes that's a great help. I love hearing other people's experiences and thoughts I've visited St Paul de Vence before and loved it but my husband hasn't. I'm also very interested in Mont St Michel and Carcassonne. Half the fun is in the planning for me. Thanks again for your input

Meant to say another reason we picked globus was because they went to Lourdes. Amazing experience. I'm not religious or catholic but absolutely loved the procession people did hoping to get healed - the music and candlelight. Very moving. I too find the planning half the fun.

I haven’t used Globus but in more of one ocassion I saw the Globus bus by hotels in prime location when with Trafalgar we were staying miles away.
