There is the big kangaroo, the merino, the koala, etc. but W.A. can lay claim to the world's longest fence.
Due to the encroaching menace of rabbits from the Eastern States it was decided to impede the flow by erecting a fence thereby protecting local agriculture from the problem.

10 ~~~~~ The secrets of my city: Perth
The best way to discover any new city is with the benefit of local knowledge. As our series on secret spots continues, we asked people who know Perth to share their insider tips.
Perth is the capital of Western Australia, and has a population of around two million people. It's considered one of the world's most isolated cities – the closest major city is Adelaide, and that's almost 2700 kilometres away, or 28 hours if you drive non-stop. And it's closer to Jakarta than Sydney.
But with its sunny climate and beachside lifestyle, Perth is an increasingly popular tourist spot and now has one of the fastest growing populations in Australia.
