91 ~~~ Balmoral Castle, Royal Deeside, Aberdeenshire, Scotland ~~~ Balmoral Castle Tour: The Queens Scottish Castle ~~~ While Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle may be the most well-known of the Queen's royal residences, the Monarch has been going to Balmoral Castle every year for her summer getaway. Located in Royal Deeside, in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, Balmoral Castle has been in the royal family since 1852, after Prince Albert bought it. The Queen and her husband, Prince Philip, famously visited the residence every year during their marriage. However, 2021 marked the first time the Queen spent the summer there as a widow, having lost Prince Philip in April 2020. Balmoral Castle is set amongst acres of lush green countryside and the nearby River Dee. As you would expect from a royal country residence, it is isolated from any noisy neighbors. However, it has the village of Crathie at a convenient six miles away, and it is located just under two hours away from Inverness. The royal family residence was initially purchased by Prince Albert, Queen Victoria's husband. Deeside was reportedly recommended to the royal family for better weather. ~~~ m.youtube.com/watch?v=pI09O54sK3U ~ 8:32 ~ Royal Living ~ 2022 May ~ 419K Views ~ Secrets Of Balmoral Castle - British Royal Documentary ~~~ m.youtube.com/watch?v=RUTImMUpKFo ~ 40:40 ~ 2021 November ~ 28K Views ~ UK Royal Documentary ~ Balmoral Castle 1 of 4 ~~~ m.youtube.com/watch?v=-8st8VxWyOY&t=13s ~ 14:26 ~ 2010 November ~ MyDigitalRealm ~ 706K Views ~ Balmoral Castle 2 of 4 ~~~ m.youtube.com/watch?v=ogqI5Ok2sxo&t=35s ~ 14:28 ~ 2010 November ~ MyDigitalRealm ~ 312K Views ~ Balmoral Castle 3 of 4 ~~~ m.youtube.com/watch?v=L1Ej7jmpb1k&t=507s ~ 14:57 ~ 2010 November ~ MyDigitalRealm ~ 597K Views ~ Balmoral Castle 4 of 4 ~~~ m.youtube.com/watch?v=IwaILaFEzB0&t=379s ~ 14:43 ~ 2010 November ~ MyDigitalRealm ~ 430K Views ~ Tour of Balmoral ~~~ In this video we take you on a tour of just some of the highlights of the Balmoral Estate. 102 ~~~ Countryfile: Royal Special - Sandringham (2018) ~~~ youtu.be/mHNffC9nJx8 ~ 58:47 ~ 7 Nov 2022 ~ Mrs Philibet ~ 88.5K Views ~ m.youtube.com/@mrs.philibet/videosReleased 2018 Countryfile has been given unprecedented access to the Queen's Sandringham estate. Matt Baker discovers that the Queen's love of her most private rural hideaway comes through her father's side of the family. When George VI died at Sandringham in 1952 it became even more special to the Queen and as Matt discovers, memories of her father are written into the landscape, especially the trees on the estate. Adam Henson looks into the farming history of Sandringham which has run as a mixed farm of nearly 6,000 acres for many years. Adam looks at the wheat and blackcurrant crops before turning his attention to the Red Poll cattle. Ellie Harrison is at the Royal Stud just half a mile from the main house. It was here that the young princess would accompany both her grandfather and father to spend time with the thoroughbreds. From this moment onwards the young princess was spellbound and still is today. Ellie learns that the Queen asks for regular reports on all her horses and sees how once the horses' racing careers have finished, the Queen has found a new lease of life for them - dressage. John Craven looks at the great flood of 1953 and meets the local people who were affected in the Sandringham area to hear their stories. Ellie is also looking at the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh's work with scientists and ecologists to monitor the health of the land at Sandringham. She visits the Duke of Edinburgh's bird hide to witness the wildlife that visits the reclaimed land and calls it home. Matt Baker also visits the Royal Pigeon Loft and discovers that the birds are a real passion of the Queen. Finally, Anita Rani learns about Her Majesty's love of gun dogs. Anita meets gun dog handler Bill Meldrum and learns how he taught the Queen to win field trials.
