No flowers or chocolate for me, but we did have a nice pizza meal out on our deck after we got back from seeing the film version of the British stage production of The Importance of being Earnest with David Suchet (Poirot) playing Lady Bracknell and Michele Dotrice ( Who played Frank Spensers wife Betty) as Miss Prism. So a fun day for us - married 45 years this May!

45 years of marriage is amazing!! That sounds really romantic. Congratulations!! You must be a wise women to be able to pick a guy that you knew you respected and loved and could make a go with it. So many folks are so immature when they marry. I don't think they have a clue what the institution represents. Then you see they eventual divorce where inevitably one spouse wants out and the other wants to remain.

Solaria, so there is such a thing as marital bliss? Yes, I think so. Our eldest daughter when she was about 19, asked us how come still are together and walk hand in hand down the beach when we have such different personalities. Her father replied " Your mother and I are the perfect match - I know how to make money and she knows how to spend it!". He also saves me from spiders and other creepy crawlies and I keep him fed and drag him to the shops when he needs new clothes!

I myself never married. I had many chances but never felt that I would make a good mother. Love children but was too into my career. When I reflect on my parents marriage it always brings a smile to my face. When I read that you would drag your husband out to get clothes that made me laugh because my mother would do the same. My father was a school administrator and would have to be out in the public sometimes giving public speeches at commencements. She was always after him to buy new suits. I remember one hot June day she chased after him because he was headed to a commencement with his black judge's robe on but only shorts and black socks under the robe. He said he was afraid he would get to hot sitting on the stage!
