Don't be shy Chech, Oz-T and Mrs Oz-T, a picture of the three of you would be great! Please?? Heh, heh. Nup, no pic of the three of us exists... ... And my secret is now out: Oz-T is not a dead-ringer for Indiana Jones...

That's what I found out yesterday, when Chech informed me, you don't look at all like Harrison Ford! Very disappointed with you, misleading us like like! Actually, the Indy pic was more of an accident than anything planned. When I originally joined the Trafalgar Forum I selected the avatar of the middle-age man in the straw hat. When they changed their format we all had to find new avatars so I tried to find the same one by googling 'man' and 'hat'. I never did see anything like the original avatar but the pic of Indiana Jones appeared - I was in a hurry and used it, thinking there was at least a loose connection with travel and adventure. And he has a lot more hair than I can claim...

I agree there should be pictures posted of Chech with OZ and his wife and Chech and Tassiedevil. Tulips posted a picture of herself and I at the Canadian war memorial at Vimy. I find it hard to believe since both OZ and Chech are both such fervent photographers that no pictures exist. Love your postings so far Chech. Purvis

Rugby Union isn't all that big a sport in Australia compared to others. Australian Rules Football is the main sport, and unlike any football played in the northern hemisphere (with the exception of Ireland's Gaelic football). Then we have Rugby League, but that's mainly followed by just two states (Queensland & NSW). Soccer and cricket are also played, but don't bring the spectators of the two main football codes. In my youth, Aussie Rules football and cricket were my main two sports, and I never knew anybody who played rugby union, rugby league or soccer.
The Aussies in the Rugby Union World Cup will still be cheered on by us, even if most Australians won't have ever attended a game if this code. We're a country of sports nuts. From what I do know, the New Zealanders are a formidable team and are probably favourites, deserving to win the final. The winner has come from the southern hemisphere in six of the seven cup finals (NZ twice, Australia twice, South Africa twice), so yet again the cup heads to the Antipodes.
So I may watch the game on TV if I'm awake at 3am, but I'll be more interested in reading how Chech is recovering from her birthday celebrations in Fiji. She has yet to drink any kava.....

I know nothing about rugby even though my university has a team. Is cricket like our baseball?

Oh...speaking of sports....the NFL does show games live here. It chooses three by the looks of it and broadcasts them live overnight (which is why most probably don't notice). I happened to be flicking through the channels one early morning and my game was on....well, you wanna see a Newf try to plug her ears and find the channel up button fast! LOL

I know nothing about rugby even though my university has a team. Is cricket like our baseball? Cricket is only similar in the sense that they wield a bat and each team has innings. Instead of 9 innings cricket has two. The ball is 'bowled' rather than pitched, and it bounces off the grass first before arriving at the batsman (not 'batter'). This means the ball will usually deviate due to the uncertainty of the exact spot it hits the ground, making it difficult for the batsman to judge how to hit (or leave) it. The aim of the bowler (not 'pitcher') is to deceive the batsman enough to make him miss the ball and (generally) allow it to hit the stumps (3 wooden posts just behind him), or to be caught out (like baseball). And to the amazement of many Americans, our 'Test Match' cricket games take five days to play, although there are one-day shorter versions of the game.

Even more remarkable is that after 5 days of chasing a ball around there doesn't necessarily have to be a result!

P.S. Seems the Wrest Point is now the proud owner of one metal TSA luggage lock. Couldn't find it so I figured it was in my bag somewhere but guess not. No idea where it ended up in there. I checked everywhere.
