Wow...TassieD....that is quite the adventure! Looking forward to hearing about what is done in Bosnia. You'll have to let me know if they offer anyone the chance to visit Srebrenica. I'm down to 6 weeks to Vietnam. And I'm researching a tour for early April. Got a slowing growing annoying little bugger I have to get excised but don't see doc till end April...so in case the excision screws up May/June, I'm figuring I might as well go somewhere hot at the end of March/early April. So far, the Yucatan is winning out...and I can swim with the dolphins! Twice! LOL Really looking forward to it! Going in today to pay off the tour so I get the maximum discount.

Not sure if this counts, but off to Disney World in Florida with my daughter and 2 grand daughters (age 7 & 5) at the end of January. Staying in the Animal Kingdom Resort for 7 days and can't wait to see their reaction on Christmas Day when they find out what Santa brought.

Scottie: They will just fall in love with Florida's Disney World. I returned from there the middle of last month . Have been to all the different Disney Florida sites and enjoyed each of them many times and never get tired of returning. Have a wonderful time with the grandchildren. Purvis

Purvis I have been twice to Disney World but never stayed at a resort. I know the girls are going to be so excited when they find out on Christmas morning. My husband and I had talked about taking them but, unfortunately he passed away suddenly two months ago so I decided we would go next month. Which resort did you like best? Scottie

Jealous Scottie! Would love to be going to Disney World. It definitely counts!
As well as my big overseas trip next year I am counting down to a trip to the nation's capital, Canberra. I think I leave on 15 January, but definitely return on 25 January. Going as part of the state U17 girl's team to the national championships.
Booked last week airfares and accommodation for my usual trip to Melbourne over Easter. This year going from 3 April to 7 April.
Still to book a week in Melbourne in the middle of July and a weekend of 14-15 November (already registered for a run that weekend in Melbourne).

I wasn't able to get them here, so I'll have to get them en route. Wonder if I can get some Dong in Hong Kong for a song? Oh wait..not going through Hong Kong on the way there...only on the way back....

You say you are registered for a run in Melbourne, are you a marathon runner? My cousin's wife is a marathon runner, they live in Victoria, AU, and she just competed in Los Angeles last month. They have done quite a bit of traveling to competitions. Enjoy your trip to Canberra, not long now until January 15th. My granddaughters are counting down the days until they leave for Disney..they were sooooo excited when they found out!

No not a marathon runner. The run is the City2Sea which is the sister run to Sydney's City2Surf (which is the worlds largest fun run). It is a 15km run starting from the world famous MCG to St Kilda beach via Albert Park (Formula 1 Grand Prix track). It is a good excuse to spend the weekend in Melbourne!
Trip to Canberra is coming up fast, still waiting for my uniform and items to arrive. I have my travel uniform, so maybe I will have to wear the formal uniform all week?!
I'm sure your granddaughters can't wait until they visit Disney World. My niece has made me promise if I ever go to a Disneyland again I have to take her!

Not long now, Chech. I'm sure you'll be poised to take photos of every oriental cat you see. But a word of caution: Over there, the cats eat Vietnamese... ... and conversely, the Vietnamese eat cats. Check your food before eating! .. even at breakfast....

Ahh, good. I had been hoping that you'd desensitized yourself to some of the unpleasant culinary traditions of the far east.

That's easy to guess when you're used to Asian cuisine, Chech. Seven bowls would probably contain the full complement of culinary delicacies: Siamese, Persian, Tabby, Manx, Birman, Abyssinian & Burmese. Just be careful to not swallow any fur-balls

An overview would be lovely, Tiffany. A lot of travellers prefer the cruise scene - not having to repack daily and a more regimented timetable!

I agree that any summary of the cruise would be really great to read, Tiffany. Sharing the experience is what this forum is all about, and we aren't limited to guided tour companies. We went on our first cruise (South Pacific) last February and it was a magnificent experience. I didn't write a travel tale because it didn't fit with something you'd put on Trafalgar's forum - but it's quite flexible here now. The cruise was so different from standard guided tours that I will be belatedly writing a travel tale of that trip and posting it on this forum.

I agree that it will be nice to not have to pack and unpack on an almost daily basis. My friend went on a river cruise with her mom a few years ago, and that was one of the reasons she loved it, but she said that she was the youngest person there, and her mom was the second youngest. I’m not sure if I’m ready for a river cruise just yet, but I’m looking forward to my Caribbean cruise! Things have been very stressful for me at work and at home lately, and I’m living at my uncle’s for a few weeks while work is being done to my place, so I’m looking forward to getting away. I’m also looking forward to getting away from this cold weather, even if it’s just for a week!

This is my first cruise Chech, and I’m not sure if I will like it or not. I like the idea of waking up in a new city every morning, and I’ve been told that the food and entertainment on a cruise is very good, but I’m worried about motion sickness. I really hope I’m okay as that would really ruin the trip for me. Other than that, I can’t think of any reason I wouldn’t like cruising. I know some people feel trapped on a cruise, but I don’t think I’ll have a problem with that. If this cruise works out, I’d like to go on an Alaskan cruise next, although I’ll have to find someone interested in going with me. My friend who loves cruises, and is going with me on this one, has already been on an Alaska cruise, and I’m not sure if she would want to go again.
