Application ~ One or more software programs designed for a specific use. e.g. general ledger application.
Bit ~ A Binary digit either 0 or 1. The smallest possible unit of information.
Byte ~ A sequence of binary digits which are operated as a unit to represent a character. It is usually made up of 8 bits.
Chip ~ A piece of semiconductor material (silicon) onto which is etched a microscopic printed circuit.
CPU ~ Central Processing Unit. Portion of the computer that controls arithmetic and logic functions. Also controls the transfer of internal data.
DOS ~ Disk Operating System. A collection of programs stored onto a disk.
Kbyte ~ (KB) 1024 bytes ~ often referred to as kilobytes.
