still looking at Canada/Alaska but that might be put off until 2020? Local travel agency have advertised an Israel & Jordan esp. Petra tour in May next year. I am keen as I have always wanted to go to Israel but Eddie is a bit diffident. I will not push it at the moment as I am on a waiting list for an urgent hysterectomy. When I'm over that I will get more proactive as it may be my one and only chance to go there. I was originally going to go after my teacher training back when I was 20 but I met Eddie and we got married instead - I said he now 'owes' me the trip I missed back then ๐โก well op went well and CT scan showed no further stray cancer lesions elsewhere, so I have been given the all clear and no need for any further treatment, only 6 monthly checkups for 2 years. I have however decided against any travels this year. Home feels the right place to be for now. To make it even more homely, after 2 years of no pets we have now adopted Chester - 11wks old! He was found on a farm track only 2 weeks old and hand reared by a lovely animal carer until he was ready for his permanent home, which is ours! Hasn't taken long to belong here - 2 days - he's now sleeping on my lap while I type this. so 2019 I will travel vicariously with all you intrepid explorers! ๐

Hi - I've been off the board for some time. I lost track of this site when I purchased and transferred my data to a new laptop and couldn't find it doing an online search until this morning when I received an email from The Travel-Forum. I'm still traveling and have a 14 day Baltic cruise planned for this May immediately followed by a Norwegian Fjords cruise on the Sapphire Princess from Southampton, UK. Will spend a few days before the cruise in London. Going solo. Life is good! Mary

We just received our Trafalgar documents for Britain and Ireland Panorama tour. We are so excited with just over three weeks to go. The forum has been very quiet lately so we presume most people are travelling now. Good, more travel tales to read! Happy travels! Lainie.

I'm still at home, trying to keep warm and dry now that winter has come with a vengeance! Like you I am holding out for some new Travel Tales - and I look forward to yours Lainie ๐ค We did this tour in 2012 and really enjoyed it, despite getting a chesty cough, so I wish you good health and great adventures!!

Solaria, it's good to know you enjoyed the tour that we are going on. I know exactly what you mean about winter! That's the reason we are going to the warmer weather for five weeks. It's not so good however catching our flight at 6.30am as it is always extremely cold and frosty. Lainie.

I picked up my travel docs last week. Only 24 days to go. All I have to do now is work out what I need to pack, as opposed to what I'd like to pack, as I usually pack to much BUT I am getting better.
My husband and I recently returned from a 9 day train(s) trip that took us from Canberra up to Sydney, down to Adelaide and then up north to Darwin and all with just a carry-on that had to be under 10kg as we flew home from Darwin.

Pauline, the train trip sounds fabulous. I do not know how you manage with just a carry on bag. I always pack too much. I'm terrible for packing clothes just in case I need them. BUT this trip I'm going to be ruthless and cut right back. I don't think I'll get down to just a carry on bag though.

I only packed 3 change of clothes, so with what I wore, that gave me 4 outfits and we were only away for 9 days. Mind you, I packed 9 nickers and another bra, so managed to last the distance without having to wash anything. We didn't have to dress for dinner, so that was a help too. I'll be checking the forecast's for the cities I'll be visiting next month, before deciding what to pack. I'm away for 4 weeks. I'll probably get laundry done at least once while away. At least the weather will be warm, so shorts, capri pants & light weight tops. Have fun with your packing.

Well, I'm back from seven weeks in the US storm chasing and self-driving to Yellowstone, Bryce and the Colorado Rockies. We saw about a dozen tornadoes (most short lived) and I dinged my rental car in Yellowstone, scratched the lens on an expensive lens and got my cell phone stolen...in freaking Nebraska. The tale should be done by August.
In October, I go to India (Golden Triangle) for eight days and then Nepal to make another attempt to get into Tibet (first try the tour was cancelled for lack of participants, second try was cancelled when the Chinese held a Congress in Lhasa and didn't want foreigners in the country).

Weโre back from our Trafalgar Britain and Ireland Panorama tour. It was really enjoyable and we had the best director ever on any of our tours. We had two weeks in London after the tour. However, we must be getting too old for the long haul flights from Australia as we start of from Tasmania and it seems to take forever to get to London. The tour itself seemed more hectic than all our previous ones. We didnโt have time to make notes and we usually do that at the end of each day. By the time we got to our hotel room we were extremely tired and just wanted to sleep. Our two weeks in London was good but HOT! We think they had the hottest day on record while we were there. From now on all our holidays will be in Australia (well that is how we feel at the moment). We have just booked a relaxing two weeks holiday to Cairns and also a 10 day break to New South Wales mid north coast. We call it recuperating!
